THE BOOSTERVol XXIIHOWINo 22CAHE TO AMERICATHE VOYAGEBy EONATHE PACIFICOhorlAt the outset of my voyage Ihave one thing in my memorywhich can never be forgotten itis the sight of Mount Fuji thenoblest and highest monumentof Japan given to her by theAs the shipCreator himselfslowly sailed on I fixed my eagereyes upon the landscape for thelast time The sun was just setting and the hills were reflectingthe golden light The picturesof green hills standing like theteeth of a saw the roofs ofhouses in the humble villages offisher- men along the shore thewaving branches of pine treesthe floating boats tossed to andfro by the waves are still precious in my memory But abovethem all noble Fuji was standThening in gigantic majestythewhite- sailed small boatsvillage houses and the purplehills disappeared one by one beyond the horizon But the magnificent snow- capped Fuji remained the last one of all tq bidme farewell This was the partin memory which I left and itis sweet to think that it will bethe first to welcome me back tomy beloved countryRapidly Japan disappearedfrom our sight and night apThe ship ploughedproachedinto the midst of the ocean thewaves became larger
