Therefore, we believe education is of primaryimportance in this pursuit. It is in this Christian spirit that we gratefully established THE ALAMANCESCHOLARSHIP TO LENOIR-RHYNE UNIVERSITY.The Alamance Scholarship will be offered to any eligible high school student in Alamance County, or anyAlamance County student attending the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham, who willenter the freshman class at Lenoir-Rhyne University in the upcoming fall semester. The amount of the scholarshipwill be 4,500.00 per year, one half paid at the beginning of each semester, renewable each year for the continuousfour year college curriculum. Over four years, the Alamance Scholarship is valued at 18,000.00. This is anecumenical scholarship open to all eligible students regardless of race, religion or sex.To be eligible to apply, a student must have a minimum 2.75 GPA for his/her school career and must alsomeet the SAT and ACT average scores for Lenoir-Rhyne University. To be eligible for scholarship renewal eachcontinuous semester, the student must successfully complete a minimum of 12 semester hours each semester,maintain a 2.5 grade point average each semester, progress reasonably towards a four year degree, and meet theoverall requirements of Lenoir-Rhyne University.The Alamance Scholarship will be awarded using the following criteria:Academic Excellence – High School GPA and SAT scoresLeadership in SchoolCharacter, Community Service, and CommitmentAthletic VigorScholarship applications may be picked up from the guidance counselor at each high school. Send thisscholarship application to the attention of Robert W. Miller, Chairman Lenoir-Rhyne University ScholarshipCommittee, Macedonia Lutheran Church, 421 West Front Street, Burlington, NC 27215. Subsequent interviewsby a selection committee made up of Alamance County leaders will be held in April. Additional funds atLenoir-Rhyne University may also be available through various financial aid programs of the university tocomplement this scholarship. A visit to the university is recommended at some point during this process.Deposits are encouraged by April 30. Applications must be submitted by April 15.An application to Lenoir-Rhyne University must be submitted prior to this scholarship application. Acceptance by Lenoir-Rhyne University is required prior to the selection process.Notification of the winner of The Alamance Scholarship will occur by April 30.
