Govan ScholarshipEstablished in 1990 by Mrs. Govan, a Horry Countyresident who wished to provide funds for educationalopportunities for those who had severe fnancial need.Established on June 25, 2018 by the DAV Chapter 57.This scholarship is to assist military veterans who havequalifed as a disabled veteran under the VeteransAdministration guidelines. The individual will submitpaperwork from either the Veterans Administration ortheir County Veterans Assistance offce as proof of thedisability. Proverbs 3:27 ScholarshipSurfside Rotary Club ScholarshipEstablished in 2015 by Monica Westcott, a graduate ofHGTC’s paralegal program. When she attended HGTC,she was a single mother, working full-time, and takingclasses full-time. She received two scholarships and ithelped her continue her education. She wants to giveback and help change someone else’s life.Established in August 2016 by the Surfside RotaryClub. The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize anoutstanding student to help support college tuition orbooks. Two are to befrom professors and the third from your employer orthe community.7) Preference is given to students with recent or currentcommunity service.Winyah DAR ScholarshipThis annual scholarship was established in 2021 bythe Winyah Chapter of the Daughters of the AmericanRevolution (DAR) to provide aid to a Georgetown Countystudent from funds raised through community sponsors.Eligibility Criteria: To be considered for this scholarship,an applicant:1) Must be a resident of Georgetown County2) Must be a second-year student; and3) Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater.4
