Summary of Reciprocity Agreements between Texas and Other JurisdictionsFOREWORDThis booklet contains summaries of the reciprocal privileges agreed upon between Texas,the other States, the Provinces of Canada, and the bordering States of Mexico.Under the Texas Transportation Code, Section 502.054, the Texas Department ofTransportation (TxDOT) acting by and through the Executive Director is authorized to enterinto agreements with duly authorized officials of the other jurisdictions exempting theresidents of such other jurisdictions who use the public highways of Texas from thepayment of registration fees for such periods or extensions of time as may be grantedresidents of Texas who use the public highways of such other jurisdictions.The material contained herein is subject to change due to the modification of existingstatutes or agreements, or the execution of new agreements.Holders of this book may contact this department concerning any changes which may havebeen made.The privileges herein provided apply only to bona fide residents and are based on theprovision that the vehicle operated is properly licensed in the home State or Province. Each vehicle moved shall have a dealer's plate oridentification issued by the resident state securely affixed to such vehicle.BUSESFull reciprocity for motor vehicles owned or chartered by all schools and colleges, religious orcharitable associations or institutions, or governmental agencies when used to convey theirathletic teams, orchestras or other scholastic, religious, or charitable organizations oremployees for temporary trips. Summary of Reciprocity Agreements between Texas and Other JurisdictionsARKANSAS - ContinuedTRAILERS AND SEMITRAILERSFull reciprocity.DEALERS AND MANUFACTURERSIReciprocityshall be granted to licensed dealers and manufacturers properly registered in theirresident state to travel over the public highways of either state, provided that such travel islimited to vehicles owned by such dealers and manufacturers and that such vehicles shall beara dealer's or manufacturer's metal license plate issued by the dealer's or manufacturer'sresident state; and, provided further, that a licensed dealer or manufacturer of either of theContracting States may use a dealer's license or insignia provided for under the laws of thedealer's or manufacturer's home state to drive or tow vehicles to his resident state afterpurchasing same in the nonresident state, or to drive or tow vehicles purchased in his homeImayIstate to points of sale in the nonresident state; and, it is further provided, that a retail purchaserdisplay on a vehicle he purchases in the nonresident state an appropriate insignia issuedby the licensed dealer from whom the nonresident obtained the vehicle for the purpose ofconveying the vehicle to his home state.
