1. Check & Lubricate GasketCheck gasket to be sure it iscompatible for the intendedservice. Apply a thin coatingof Gruvlok lubricant to outsideand sealing lips of the gasket.Be careful that foreignparticles do not adhere tolubricated surfaces.2. Gasket InstallationSlip the gasket over the pipeend making sure the gasketlip does not overhang thepipe end.4. HousingsPlace the coupling housinghalves over the gasket makingsure the housing keys engagethe grooves. Insert bolts andturn nuts finger tight.5. Tighten NutsTighten the nuts alternatelyand equally to the specifiedbolt torque.* The housingbolt pads must make metalto-metal contact. On couplings 10" and larger itmay be easier to turn the gasketinside out then lubricate andslide the gasket over the pipeend as shown.CAUTION: Uneven tighteningmay cause the gasket to pinch.CAUTION: Proper torquing of coupling bolts isrequired to obtain specified performance. Overtorquing the bolts may result in damage to the boltand/or casting which could result in pipe jointseparation. Under torquing the bolts may result inlower pressure retention capabilities, lower bend loadcapabilities, joint leakage and pipe joint separation.Pipe joint separation may result in significant propertydamage and serious injury.APFH-4.123. AlignmentAfter aligning the two pipe ends, pull the gasket into positioncentering it between thegrooves on each pipe. Gasketshould not
