Tipton BDS MSc DGDP RCSDental Surgeon, Specialist in ProsthodonticsPresident, British Academy of Restorative DentistryDirector of Education, Sander DentalDr Paul Tipton is an internationally acclaimed Prosthodontist whohas worked in private practice for more than 30 years. He is thefounder of Tipton Training Ltd, one of the UK's leading privatedental training academies and the author of over one 100 scientificarticles for the dental press. He was voted in the Top 20 'mostinfluential dentists in the UK' by his peers in Dentistry Magazine inApril 2012, the leading Prosthodontist in the poll and was voted inthe top 5 dentists in Private Dentistry's Elite 20 poll, January 2012.Dr Tipton qualified from Sheffield University in 1978 and in 1982 opened his own referralpractice in Manchester. He continued to build his skills, studying at Eastman Dental Hospital inLondon, where after 2 years of study, he obtained a Masters Degree in Conservative Dentistry in1989. In 1989, Dr Tipton started teaching on the University of Manchester's MSc in RestorativeDentistry. He is now a lecturer on the MSc programme in Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistryand also lectures at Kings College London (LonDEC). His private dental training academy, TiptonTraining, was founded in 1991 and to date over 2500 dentists have completed a one-year courseat the Academy. In 1992, Dr Tipton was awarded an honorary Diploma in General DentalPractice from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and was appointed a member of theBritish Dental Association's Independent Practice Committee. In 1999, he was certified as aSpecialist in Prosthodontics by the General Dental Council.Dr Tipton is on the editorial board of Private Dentistry Magazine, The Journal of IndianProsthodontics Society and Implant Dentistry and is a medical writer and part of the advisoryboard at Expert Beauty Magazine and 'Woman's' magazine. He was a founding member and onthe Board of Directors of the British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry and the British Academy ofCosmetic Dentistry. He is the past president of the British Academy of Implant Dentistry and iscurrently the President of the British Academy of Restorative Dentistry. He has held faculty appointments at theKarolinska Institute, the Brånemark Clinic at University of Gothenburg,Eastman Dental Hospital, London, and the United Medical & Dental Schools of Guy s & St. Thomas Hospitals,London. Dr Urde has held a variety of positions with Nobel Biocare throughout US and Europe, to includeSystem Specialist, Manager of Clinical & Scientific Support, Manager of Professional Support and MarketDirector. Dr Urde has published and lectured extensively worldwide on dental implants and practicemanagement and is currently on staff as a Prosthodontist at the Copenhagen Implant Centre, Denmark. Atpresent Dr Urde is responsible for the prosthetic lecturing at the one-year High Diploma in Implantologyprogram at Nicolas & Asp College of postgraduate dentistry in Dubai, in collaboration with Gothenburguniversity, Sweden, and is accredited by UAE, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.Course PresenterDr Andrew Legg BDS MFDS RCS EdImplant SurgeonDr Andrew Legg graduated from the University of Manchester in 2001.He joined a large dental practice in South Manchester the same yearbecoming an associate in 2002. He then became a partner in August2003 following the departure of two esteemed colleagues. This extensiveexperience in general practice has given Andrew grounding in all aspectsof dental care allowing a fully comprehensive approach to patient care. In 2004 Andrew began hispostgraduate training in Oral Surgery and Implant Dentistry and has since undertaken over 300hours of training including an 18 month Clinical Certificate in Implantology at the University ofSheffield and Advanced Surgical Training at the Royal College of Surgeons. More recently Andrewpassed his Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.Andrew has experience with several of the major implant systems as well the use of Nobel Guide CTscan guided surgery. He has a particular interest in the use of 3D stereolithographic modelling fromCT scans and their application in reconstructive implant dentistry.
