ABOUT THEAFRICAN AMERICAN INTERCULTURAL CONGREGATIONAL SUPPORT OFFICEThe African American Intercultural Congregational Support Office (AAICS) assists the PresbyterianChurch (USA) in addressing the needs of African American Presbyterian Congregations. The officeprovides leadership at all levels of the denomination in order to strengthen the nurture andwitness of African American Congregations. The main focus of the office is growth, health andvitality for these congregations and their ministries.This ministry works in partnership with presbyteries and congregations to help experience theunconditional love of God through Jesus Christ that empowers African American Congregations tobe prophetic witnesses to the power of love to transform people, history, cultures and institutions.The African American Presbyterian LEGACY of prophetic leadership for justice and a culturallyplural society has transformed the church and the world. 6.Believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to transform our lives, empower us to fulfill ourministry and to believe prophetic witnesses for Jesus7.Sessions will become spiritual leaders who seek to motivate individuals to a missionalspirituality that expresses God’s love to a marginalized people8.Making disciples who demonstrate Christ like qualities, serve as missionaries in theircommunities in the world and are active participants in bringing about God’s realm onearth.Our congregations can become healthy, vital, growing and transforming congregations that willtransform communities. This is a BLESSED HOPE. I believe what the word of God says: “Now toGod who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we canimagine.” – Ephesians 3:20At the same time, the movement of God’s spirit is preparing our congregations to serve as partnerswith God in a transformation process. African American congregations can become transformingcongregations that transform communities. There is a BLESSED HOPE!2
