Madison County Mental Health Board157 North Main Street, Suite 380Edwardsville, IL 62025(618) 296-4358INTRODUCTIONMadison County Mental Health BoardMission Statement"To assure the availability of a comprehensive system of community mental health servicesfor residents of Madison County who are affected by mental illness,intellectual/developmental disabilities or substance use disorder."In 2020, the Madison County Mental Health Board completed a Community Needs Analysis.Interviews with local key informants revealed that one of the strengths of Madison Counties isthat there are a wide array of behavioral health and other community support services. However, the key informants also addressed that the community at large is not aware of theservices that exist. It was an added concern that the lack of knowledge of local services impactsevery aspect of an individual finding, navigating, accessing, and receiving appropriatebehavioral health care. With the findings of the Needs Analysis, the Mental Health Board established the 2021 StrategicPlan to include a goal to increase public awareness of the behavioral health treatment andsupport services available to Madison County residents. Through the dedicated work ofElizabeth Kalous, Graduate Intern, Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville this BehavioralHealth Resource Directory is being presented. The Resource Directory will be distributed andfollowed by community presentations to further educate the public and consumers and theirfamilies to increase awareness about where they can turn when finding themselves in need ofmental health, substance use disorder, or intellectual/developmental disability services andsupports.
