The Sports College has given me the ability to study whilstcompeting or training on the other side of the world, allowing me to pursuea sporting career whilst also preparing for a future after swimming.I believe that a balanced life is an extremely important part of an athlete’slife and without the help and guidance of the Sports College I wouldnot be able to be pursuing dreams both in and out of the water.2

I was able to base my timetable around my trainingschedule as well as compete on the world stage. The Sports Collegegave me the support to work with my course convenors to get all myassessment in on time. I wouldn’t have been able to get through mydegree so quickly without the help and support of the Sports College.

High performance programsGriffith has a rich history with sport in both our elite athlete program andhigh performance sporting programs, including a Swimming Australiasupported swimming program, women’s Rugby 7s, rowing, and trackand field. All high performance programs have the support of Griffith’sextensive sport science and sport medicine services and ancillary services.SwimmingRowingGriffith Swimming Club, based on the Gold Coastcampus, is proud to be one of Swimming Australia’s highperformance supported programs—the only supportedprogram on the Gold Coast. Led by world renowned coachMichael Bohl as Head Coach, Griffith runs an elite programwith multiple Olympians and also a development/pathwayprogram coached by Olympian Chris Wright.Griffith University Surfers Paradise Rowing Club housesmultiple Australian representatives, producing both worldand Olympic champions. Identified as one of two clubsin Queensland as a Rowing Queensland supported club,the Griffith club experiences success on the local, state,national and international stage under the direction ofHead Coach Lincoln Handley and his network of othernational team coaches.Womens Rugby 7sGriffith University are proud to be selected as one of10 universities in Australia to compete in the NationalWomen’s Sevens University Series. GSC eligibilityTo applyIf you compete at a state, national orinternational level in your sport, you mightbe eligible to join the Griffith Sports College.Whether you’re currently studying at Griffith,or are in Year 12 and looking to attend nextyear, complete your GSC application form.Elite athletes* are identified as participating in an AIS andGriffith University recognised sport.
