Service DescriptionFeeding the Hungry: Food for low-incomeand homeless brothers and sisters indowntown LA every Sunday morning, as ajoint project with Glendale and HollywoodSai Centers. Normal menu includessandwiches, bean burritos, donuts,cookies, juice, hot soup, fruit, and water.Hot meals consisting of rice and curry,pasta and salad, ice cream, fruit punch, etc.are served typically on 3rd Sundays ofalternate months, and 5th Sundays of themonth, and on special occasions.Food Bank: A Food Bank is maintained byArcadia and Glendale Centers to distributenutritious food baskets to needy families.Volunteers participate in the purchase offood for the Bank and distribute food tothe homes of selected needy families.Distribution of “Food Baskets” isundertaken on special occasions by theBank.Sewing Project: Garments are sewn bydevotees for children, ages 0 to 5, fromvery needy families. The garments aredistributed through the Women, Infants &Children (WIC) program and also sent tothe needy in India, Sri Lanka and Haiti.
