Wireless Remote for VS Series Leak DetectorsLeaks in large systems often occur far from the leak detector .Wired remote controls have sought to address this problem, but impedance and the cumbersome nature of long cables areoften limiting factors. For many applications these traditionalwired remotes provide little benefit. By utilizing modern wireless technology, leak testing hard-to-reach locations is nowmuch easier, and can be performed at much greater distancesof up to 100 meters.Applications in large systems which have traditinally requiredtwo technicians can now be performed by one technician, thereby reducing labor costs. All the major functions of theleak detector are at your fingertips , giving you a truly portableleak detection solution. In addition to the visual bar graph of the leak rate, the remotecontrol has a speaker that provides a variable tone indicatingthe trend and relative size of the leak. The wireless remote canoperate for a full 8-hour shift, or longer , on four AA batteriesand conforms to ISM band, 2.4 GHz FHSS standards.ApplicationsVacuum FurnacesGlass CoatersRoll CoatersE-Beam WeldersBeam Lines/AcceleratorsSemiconductor Process ToolsIon ImplantersPower Generation PlantsFeatures BenefitsWireless technology Significantly extends range withoutcumbersome, restrictive cables100 meter (328 ft) range Internal speaker Head phone jack 20 channels 2.4 GHz frequency, ISM bandcompliantEnables single operator testingEmits variable tone thatcorresponds to leak rate signal Enables testing even in noisyenvironments Allows use of hand held remotewith multiple leak detectors Free license band with minimumcross-talk Technical SpecificationsFrequency/BandRangeFunctionsPower SupplyOperating LifeInternal SpeakerHead PhonesOperating TemperatureRuggedness2.4 GHz, ISM Band FHSS Compliant100 m (328 ft)Test/Hold, Zero, Read Standard Leak, Set-up4 (four) AA Batteries or by 5 6 1 VDC, 1 A (min)Approximately 12 hrs (dependent on batteries)85 dB min @ 1.0 ftMono, 3.5 mm plug, 32 ohm impedance, 1000-10,000 Hz frequency response 12 C to 40 CMeets industrial standards for hand-held equipment (Section 8.4.2 of UL 6 1010-1 2nd edition)Ordering InformationDescriptionWireless Base Unit, Field InstalledWireless Base Unit, Factory InstalledWireless Remote Control8Shipping Weight kg (lbs)0.5 (1.0)1.0 (2.2)Part NumberVSFLDWBVSFACWBVSLDWRC

PHD-4136 (5.35)Outline Drawing170,5 (6.71)16,9 (0.66)291 (11.45)Dimensions: millimeters (inches)The PHD-4 is a portable, compact leak detector that runs onits own battery for up to four hours. W eighing only 2.6 kg (5.7lbs) including the battery, it can be taken anywhere. The PHD-4detects very small leaks in objects that have a slight helium/airpressure inside. It is sensitive to helium concentrations as smallas 2 parts per million which equivalent to a leak rate of 5 x 1 0-6atm-cc/sec. This level of sensitivity is far superior to the perfor mance of other means of detecting leaks such as bubble test ing. To accomplish this it relies on V arian’s proprietary andpatented Selective Ion Pump Detection (SIPD) technology.Controlled by a microprocessor, the PHD-4 is easy to usewith no training required. All tuning and zeroing are handledautomatically. The display can be set to use any of fourlanguages – English, French, German, and Italian. The basic PHD-4 package includes: PHD-4 basic module Transformer/battery charger (115V-240V) Carrying strap 15-pin I/O connector Instruction manual on CD-ROMThe complete PHD-4 package includes everything in the basicpackage plus: Spare battery Travel case Probe setThe PHD-4 replacement kit includes: Sampling pump with fittings Probe with sampling line Probe tip filter Internal filter kit (5 units)Technical SpecificationsLowest Detectable Helium ConcentrationLowest Detectable Helium leakResponse TimeRecovery TimeStart up time, including self check-upElectrical SupplyBattery operation TimeMaximum Signal DriftOperating ConditionsStorage ConditionsCompliance to Norms162 ppm (parts per million)5 x 10-6 mbar l/s 2 sec 10 sec (from 50 ppm to 0 ppm)3 min approx.
