I hope that you enjoyedthe National Conference in Austin. It wasan amazing conference and a lot of fun. Ialso hope that you had a relaxing summerand are looking forward to the upcomingregional conference.This year, the regional conference willbe hosted by the new Beta Tau Kappachapter at DeSales University. We are veryexcited to have everyone visit our beautifulcampus. The conference will be held fromOctober 12 to 14, 2017 in Center Valley,PA. Center Valley is about an hour and a half north of Philadelphiain the Lehigh Valley (near Allentown). The conference pre-registration fee is 90 for members and 70 for guests.The theme for the conference is “Devious Offenders”. We have several excellent speakers including Dr. Katherine Ramsland who recently published Confessions of a Serial Killer:The Untold Story of Dennis Rader, the BTK Killer. We know that you will enjoy the presentations that our speakers have prepared for the conference.I also hope that you are going to be attending the National Conference in Cleveland,Ohio from March 18 to 23, 2018. The theme for the conference is “Modern Technology, PoliceTraining, and Equipment” as well as “Police Accountability and Community Involvement”. Theconference pre-registration fee is 180 for members and 150 for guests.As the new school year begins, please make sure that you keep the contact informationfor your chapter officers up to date with the national office. It is important that we have accurate contact information so that updates can be communicated to each chapter. WCU Criminal Justice Student Association/STO built a portable jail to promoteour program. We had over 300 people stop by out booth with many joiningCJSA/STO. The students in the picture are the STO President Molly Donegan,Vice-President Keith Criddell, Treasurer Rachel Lester, and STO members JoeBeesley and Lorenzo Giannandrea.2

Chapter NewsPsi Omega—————————Last spring, Psi Omega participated in our school’s annual Mock Mass Casualty event with the FireScience Club, EMS Club, and other organizations on campus. We also co-sponsored a campus-widescreening of the FBI Documentary “Chasing the Dragon.” For the fall, we have several events linedup and ready to go. We will be hosting the FBI Evidence Response team on September 28th for somedemonstrations and a brief look at their crime scene training. Fraud specialist John Buzzard will beattending one of our general meetings as a guest speaker to tell us about his experience working inthe financial industry. Additionally, we are looking into bringing in a bomb squad for a demonstration, hosting several panels throughout the semester, and getting ready for our conferences this year.Psi Omega is excited to see what Region IV does this year. Chapter NewsBeta Tau Kappa—————————DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania is excited to announce that they have chartered a new chapter, Beta Tau Kappa, of the American Criminal Justice Association - LambdaAlpha Epsilon. The individuals included in the picture are the officers and advisors of thechapter. Thechapter currently has fifteen members, and is continuing to grow. Beta Tau Kappa is hostingthis year’s Regional Conference from October 12th – October 14th on their beautiful campus.The theme of the conference is “Devious Offenders” and will include activities such as a physical agility course, crime scene investigation, several written tests, and a firearms competition.The members of Beta Tau Kappa are excited to host this event and are looking forward to thecontinued growth of the chapter.4
