Project Lead The Way (PLTW)Project Lead The Way (PLTW) is the leading provider of rigorous and innovativeScience, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) educationcurricular programs used in middle and high schools across the U.S. Founded in 1997 as a response to industry desire for candidates who are more prepared toenter the job market with transferable skills.More than 8,ooo middle and high schools in all 50 states offer PLTW courses to their students(as of the 2014-15 school year). In Conclusion Deptford Township Schools fosters an environment of high expectations which empowers all students to succeed andcontribute in a rapidly changing and competitive global community.Deptford Middle School offers a superior education experience and rates among the top schools in Gloucester County.Deptford High School offers strong Career and Technical programs, three of which are certified by the NJ Department ofEducation with identical CIP codes to GCIT.Additionally, Deptford High School offers 14 Advanced Placement courses, as well as the nationally recognized PLTWcurriculum.Deptford Schools accomplishes the above while educating a student body which truly reflects the diverse population of ourcommunity.Deptford taxpayers pay 1.2M per year for Deptford students to attend GCIT, for programs offered at Deptford High School.Deptford Township Schools has a fiscal responsibility to Deptford taxpayers.This is not a way to “save money.” It’s how we reinvest in and enhance our already phenomenal programs, courses, andfacilities across the district.The above points support the board’s position stated in the January 28 letter regarding tuition and transportation forDeptford students attending GCIT.24
