The money for this scholarship isprovided by St. Brendan's tithing program. The success of our parish tithing program, and thegenerosity of some parish families, will again allow us to offer grants of 750. in the nextschool year, just as we have in the past. At least four scholarship awards of 750 each, andperhaps as many as six, will be distributed. All payments will be made directly to theeducational institution on behalf of the winners, unless there is a good reason to make anexception to this rule.Applicants for the program must meet the following requirements: 1) be a member of St.Brendan's parish, 2) be someone accepted into a full time Catholic educational program (thisincludes home school programs), 3) be active within the community of St. Brendan's, 4)provide proof of educational costs, including books and other activity fees, net of all otherscholarship(s)/award(s) money. The applicants will apply by writing an essay and submitting it by Sunday, June 28, 2015.The essay should be no more than one side of one page and should discuss the reasons why aCatholic education is important to the applicant and how he or she and the surroundingcommunity will benefit from this child’s Catholic education. The parents of children enteringkindergarten through 6th grade may write the essay on behalf of the child. For applicantsentering the 7th grade or higher, the essay must be written by the applicant. All applicants will be evaluated by the Parish Council using a “blind” process (names areremoved from the applications and instead they are given numbers; only the pastor knows whohas applied and which application is from which student). The recipients will be notified inJuly, following the approval of the Parish Council. If you have any questions or comments, please contact Fr. Mullen at the parish office, or see him after Mass.Loaves and Fishes Food PantryThe Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry at St. Blaise is in great need of food supplies.Summer time is typically, the toughest time of year for food pantries, and the food pantry at St.Blaise is no exception.
