Fr. Carl’s Little Reservoir In a recent column in our Diocesan newspaper, The Messenger(Have you renewed or begun your subscription yet?), Fr. Ron Rolheiser, OMI, stated, “We live in a world of deep divisions. Everywhere we see polarization, people bitterly divided from each other by ideology, politics, economic theory, moral beliefs and theology.”As we approach another Good Friday, I think we should all take these words toheart, and reflect upon how we can do our part to diminish such division and enmity, for Jesus died on the cross to bring an end to all division, hostility and hatredbetween people, nations and religions. Hence, Good Friday is an ideal day for usto express unity, especially among Christians, and so I would like to encourageeveryone to join us for our annual Ecumenical Good Friday service. We will gather at City Hall at 12 noon on Good Friday, and walk in procession behind the crossto St. Paul United Church of Christ, where we will have a prayer service. I will bedelivering the Good Friday message this year.If we as a local Christian community of believers can’t set a good example ofbeing respectful and civil towards each other, then we have no hope of bringingabout the change in our world that Jesus suffered and died on the cross to bringabout among all peoples. We can, and we must, make a difference! Fr.
