This ranking is based on thepercentage of eligible patients who received correct treatments and carein order to fully recover from their medical problem. The report scoresCongestive Heart Failure, Heart Attack and Pneumonia because they areamong the most common reasons for hospital admissions throughout theUnited States. Palisades Medical Center’s official scores ranked among thebest in Hudson County in all three categories. Richmond, MD, a boardcertified Vascular/Interventional Radiologist, has recently joined the medical staff,bringing his extensive experience and clinical success with Uterine FibroidEmbolization (UFE). This procedure shrinks the fibroids, often eliminating theneed for surgical removal. Recovery time is short and women are back to theirnormal routine in a few days. Fivelocal clergy members will be the first students in Palisades Medical Center’sClinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program. This 20-week course teachesleaders of various religions to minister to a spiritually"Hospitaldiverse population — and in-turn, provide training forchaplains teach healthcare staff on cultural issues in end of life care,and learn about and initial spiritual assessments. Students in this firstdiverse religious class represent four different Spanish-speaking countries,as well as different religions — bringing a tremendousand spiritualdiversity to the program. At the completion of training,beliefs."participants will be certified as professional hospital chaplains.Religious volunteers may also participate in CPE training to become clinicallytrained religious volunteers who are competent at working with persons fromdiverse religious and spiritual beliefs. Anew Wound & Limb Healing Institute, scheduled to open March 2007, willprovide the most sophisticated and therapeutic approach to healing wounds.Because all wounds are not the same, the Wound & Limb Healing Institute willfeature a multidisciplinary team that will enable limb preservation, decreasedeformity and improve function for patients. Once the wound is healed, thecenter will work towards preventing its recurrence. The team will provide patientsaccess to surgeons specializing in Foot and Ankle, Orthopaedic, Plastic, andVascular Surgery; as well as physicians expert in the treatment of diabetes,infectious disease and physical medicine. Patients will also come in contactwith Hyperbaric Medicine treatment options, orthotists and prostestists,rehabilitation and counseling.
