What is Dual Credit Exactly? The Dual Credit Program allows a student toenroll at San Antonio College (SAC) to earncollege level credit while at the same timefulfilling high school academic requirements. Dual Credit classes are full year courses.Students can take any dual credit class thatthey qualify for.

Dual Credit Classes AP ClassesAP classes require takingthe AP exam in May; most colleges anduniversities awardcollege credit if youscore a 3 or better onthe AP examOnce you pass the DC class,you will have a collegetranscript with grades toprovide the university you willattendMost colleges will accept thecollege transcript, but thecolleges decide what credit youwill earn (Ex. What is ACES? ACES is your SAC account that maintains your gradesand courses Just like you log into your student portal, you should loginto your ACES account numerous times a semester You will be required to log into your ACES account tocomplete your GoFAARR and Pre-Assessment TestPreparation (PAA) modules before TSI testing You will be asked to log into your ACES account inAugust to check that you are registered for the correctDual Credit classes you want to take You can check your ACES account to see your midtermand final grades

Students Currently in DC If you are currently in a Dual Credit,complete and turn in pages 5-8 (in theAcademic DC Handbook) to sign up for APEnglish IV. You can get your Banner IDfrom your ACES account or Dual Creditteacher.If you want to take AP Biology, AP Stat’s,College Algebra or Sign Language III orIV, check your SAT, ACT or TSI scoresto ensure eligibility. Current DualCredit Students If the only DC course you tookthis year is College Algebra, youwill need to completely startover again as a new student.All DC Math students are currently inDC US History this year.

Students New to Dual Credit Apply online: Following directions from theApplyTexas Handbook. View the GoFAARR module through ACESaccount Check scores to see if you need to take theTSI test or if you are exempt. If not exempt, complete the Pre-AssessmentActivity (PAA) through ACES account

TSI (Texas Success Initiative) TestTSI is a 4-6 hour test over Reading,Math and Writing. Students not in Dual Credit musttake the TSI Test (unless they haveanother qualifying score throughSAT or ACT). Test is 20. Students needing to retake a sectionwill be charged 7 per section.

TSI (Texas Success Initiative) Test Jan. 26, Feb. 23, March 23 & April 6: (8:00 a.m.) atMAC Student should sign up in the counseling office bythe Thursday before the test date. Registration form is in the Counseling Office Any student who does not meet required scores canretest one or all sections on another test date above Students need a picture ID the morning of testing.

Registering for the TSI testIn order to register to take the TSI test,you MUST have completed the following steps: Students must complete the TSI Pre-Assessment Activity(PAA) as well as the GoFAARR provided by Alamo Colleges.(Students must print a copy of the screen as proof ofcompletion.) Provide student ID# and Banner ID# Submit payment prior to test day ( 20 for entire test; 7per section) Provide a copy of theGoFAARR completion.
