Indiana Use of PSAT/NMSQT and SAT ScoresIndiana utilized PSAT/NSMQT and SAT scores for several purposes. TheCollege Board is providing information and resources to the IndianaDepartment of Education, the Commission for Higher Education, andcolleges/universities to support changes to PSAT/NSMQT and/or SATscores in the following areas: Academic Honors Diploma Criteria ACCUPLACER Criteria Dual Enrollment EligibilityAdditional information about new score criteria or eligibility will beprovided by IDOE, CHE, or by the individual college/university.1

Linking Student Khan Academyand College Board Accounts

Why link Khan Academy and CollegeBoard Accounts? You will be able to link your College Board and Khan Academy accounts startingwith the release of PSAT/NMSQT results in early January 2016. Linking your accounts will further personalize your practice as item-level datafrom your PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 8/9 will be used by Khan Academy to generatespecific practice recommendations based on an actual exam taken under testlike conditions. All future scores from the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10 and PSAT 8/9 will alsobe sent to help customize your practice and recommendations on KhanAcademy. You will be able to jump right into practice without having to take any additionaldiagnostic quizzes or practice tests to get personalized recommendations.Please note that you can terminate your account linking at any time.46

Step 1: Creating a Khan AcademyAccount Log in to Khan Academy or Create aAcademy accountKhan Go to satpractice.org Click green button labeled “Check it out now” Sign in with Gmail, Facebook, or click “Sign up with email” If click Sign in with Gmail or Facebook, enter in your usernameand password for either these accounts and you are signed inIf click “Sign up with email” Enter in First Name/Lastname/Email/Birthdate and click “Sign Up” An email will been sent to your account to verify; sign in toyour email Open email from Khan Academy accounts and clickon the“Finish Signing Up” button A welcome screen will appear where you will enterusername and password and click “Sign Up”48

Step 2: Begin to link your KhanAcademy Account to College Board You have logged into KhanAcademy for the first timeand will be asked if youwould like to send PSATresults during the initialonboarding questionsIf you have already gonethrough the onboardingprocess, a prompt willappear asking if you want tosend your PSAT results toKhan AcademyAfter choosing that option,you will be directed tocollegeboard.org49

Step 3: Creating a College BoardAccount Sign in to your College Board account; if youdo not have a College Board account, click'Sign Up' to create one.The steps for creating a College Board accountare: Click on the “Sign up” blue boxFill in the fields to create your student accountensuring all information is correctClick “Next” at the bottom when all fields arecompletedYou are now Signed InPlease note that students under 13 can not create aCollege Board Account.50

Step 4: Hit “Send” To link accounts After successfully logging in to your College Board account, you will be asked to authorizethe account linking. After clicking “Send” you will be redirected to SAT practice on the Khan Academy site. You can remove the link at any time, by clicking on “Revoke” which is found in CollegeBoard account settings.51

Step 5: Start Practicing on Khan Academywith Personalized Recommendations You can start your practicein either Math or EvidenceBased Reading & Writing. The recommendations arebased on the item-leveldata from your actualPSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 8/9results. Keep practicing – with eachadditional problem andactivity the personalizationgets stronger and gets youcloser to your goal score onthe SAT, PSAT/NMSQT,PSAT 10, or PSAT 8/9.52

from your PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 8/9 will be used by Khan Academy to generate specific practice recommendations based on an actual exam taken under test-like conditions. All future scores from the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10 and PSAT 8/9 will also be sent to help customize your practice and recommendations on Khan Academy.
