St. Anthony was a Franciscan, memberof the religious order founded bySt. Francis of Assisi, who wasknown as a great preacher andtheological instructor. His sermons were so inspiring thathis fame spread throughout France and Italy in theten years before his death. Saint Anthony was knownthe “hammer of heretics” for his devotion to the faith.Pope Gregory IX, who canonized him as a saint in 1232,called him “The Ark of the Covenant."Many prayers to St. Anthony mention specific favorsand requests, including aid for travelers and pregnantwomen! Numerous miracles have been attributed tohim. In one of the most famous of these, he was seenone night in a room where he was staying bathed inlight with the Child Jesus in his arms. With typical humility, St. Anthony asked that this vision be kept secretuntil after his death.Although St. Anthony’s feast day is June 13th, his aidcan be invoked at any time. Let us try to emulate thisdevoted servant of God in our love of helping others.Saint Anthony, be our patron, our protector, and our advocate in life and in death.Saint Anthony, servant of Mary, obtain for usgreater devotion to the blessed Mother of God.The YOUTH GROUP will meet on the first Sundayof the month at 7:00 PM right after the BrazilianMass in the Church Hall. The groupwelcomes teens and youngadults from 16 to 36, single ormarried without children.Say a prayer for this newministry of our parish.STEWARDSHIP OF TIME AND TALENTCongratulations to all children ofFR.
