Divine Mercy SundayAPRIL 11, 2021Thoughts from Fr. AdamOne of the most important tasks that had to be completedcomplpleted before the formal merger of our Parishes in JanuaryplJJanuaua21 was the process of submittingng Parish name suggestionsssuguggeuggestions togeto BishopBishBishopshop Zubik.Z2021This process was a lengthy one and wawasmpleted with the help of our ParishPararisarish staff, isf, thehe previous Parish PastoralPastorarall CouncilraComembers, and all of you who arecompletedmbers of our new Parish. The formrmalrmal deciding of the name of the Pararisarisheishes of NheNorthern Butler County went on formembersformalParishesout two months this papastst Fall. If youyou rrecall there were Parish mailings, suggestionssuggsuggesggestiestionss from our parishioners about whattiwhaboutParirish Pasriastoastoral Council meetings, and other worktowork thattthahatt hadhaha to be completed by our ParishPararthe name they would prefer, PaParishPastoralaff. In the end, Bishop Zubik decidedddececidecidedided from the names we had submitted to him, him, thattthahatt our new Parish would be calledhacallllcastaff.St. Faustina Parish! As I have said on didiffdifferentfferfferenerent ocenoccasions, we are so blessed to have St. FaustinaFauaustaustinstinaa as oinour Parish Patron! St. FaustFaustinasttrustedusted alwaysys in the DiDiviDivinevinevine MercyMerMercyercy ofof God and the prprovidence that all thingsgs worworkorkk toortogetogethergethgetherther for ggood to those who lovloveovrist! In these uncertrtairtainain titimemes, mes, I personallypjoined so many of you, in my excxcitxcitemitemenement that Bishop Zubik lycided to name the Parishshesshes off NoNorthern Butler County after such a remarkable saint! St. Faustina labored all her lifedecidedParishesthreligiouous, through her service to her convent, and ultimately througouugto communicate to the world throughher life as a religious, throughwritiningsings, the Divine Mercy of Jesus Christ! St. Faustina sawgsw hohow profoundly one must trusus inherr profoundly mystical writings, trustGod and that the more we can learn to trust the more we can receive. (You(Y will notice a variation of this quoteqfrorofromherr Diary, ‘Divine Mercy in my Soul,’ highlighted on the front of this bulletin!)As I mentioned, it was principally through her writings that St. Faustina formedformformedrmed a devotion to the Mercycy ofGod. Through her labors of prayer, study, and writing St. Faustina was able to, inn a remarkableremaremarkable way, convey whatt tomany is the most challenging aspect of any spirituality, namely, trust! Of all the difficulties one may have in the spiritutumanyspiritualurney, perhaps St. Faustina saw as the most difficult, the obstacle of trust. So much of our life can feel out of control.contrtrjourney,We sometimes are desperate even to have a sense that we can control something in our world and that somehow, wecann manage our happiness through effort. The Diary of St. Faustina strives to try to overcome the real spiritual dangerdangngof selfself-reliance.f reliance. St. Faustina was incredibly successful at being able to convince the faithful to trust more in God’sGoprovidenceovidence in any situation.Today the Roman Catholic Church commemorates Divine Mercy Sundayy.
