This event is open tothe public, so please plan to bring a friend.Jill Draper and Laura Nelkin will beteaching at our Spring Seminar (May 19thand 20th) with Jill Draper and (May 20thand 21st) with Laura Nelkin.First, a big thank you. Most of you know by now thatthe Ramada Inn where we were planning to meet thisyear has announced that they are closing at the end ofSeptember. Thanks to the timely and very diligent workof Gina Passantino and Holly Olmstead, we have a newlocation! I am so excited to share that, beginning inSeptember, we will meet at the Hyatt Place Hotel, onMain Street, right at the edge of the Thruway. Thisshould make it even more accessible for our members.And we’ll still have the great space, lighting andtechnology.Second, I hope you're ready to meet old and new friendsat our September meeting. Come early and look around.Snacks and beverages can be purchased right off the mainentrance. Then come in and get acquainted. Holly willintroduce some of our new electronic communicationtools. And you'll learn about what's coming up.This should be a great year for the Guild. Our members' only yarn auction andour annual seminar will swap places this year, with the Auction coming in March and our YarnFest and Seminar (with a double billing, no less) arriving together in May. Since our auction willbe earlier, it would be great if you could bring your fabulous yarn finds to the Septembermeeting. The auction is a major fundraiser for the Guild.We have a theme for our Guild this year. The theme is “Grow”. So be thinking how you aregoing to grow your knitting skills and your knitting friendships this year! I can't wait to see youall in September. Ofcourse the big news is the Guilds's move to the Hyatt Place on Main Street in Amherst. Not only is the new locationconvenient for all and only 20 minutes max from the North and South towns, but the facility is modern, clean,professional and allows for a variety of seating including theater, in the round and classroom style. There's free andFAST WIFI so bring your tablets and laptops as many of our programs this year incorporate technology.The Programming Department has lots of fun ways planned for you to grow your knitting this year too. Each monthwe'll have a themed basket raffle for you to take a chance on. Inside each basket you'll find all sorts of goodies that willhelp you build your stash, add to your needle and pattern collection and other fun surprises.We are so excited to present Ann Hood in October. Ann is an accomplished and award winning author who we arehonored to have showcase our October meeting. This event is open to the public. Tickets are 5.00 for nonGuild members and can be purchased only at the door. Please invite a friend to attend. She will teach us8 of the squares throughout the year with varying techniques. She will introduce the project in September to let usknow what yarn and needles are required and interesting options for the project. Come learn with us!Yarn Auction Items NeededBy Adrienne KotlerYou probably noticed by now that the date for the annual Yarn Auction has been moved up to March. With that in mind,please think about what you may have to donate to the auction this year. We will begin collecting yarn in Septemberand will continue through the February meeting. Did you - like I - spend part of the summer rearranging your stash andhave loads of goodies to donate. We take all types of yarn, books, accessories, notions, etc. If you have magazines,we ask that you only go back to 2010. As a group you have been most generous in the past and I hope you willcontinue to donate to this annual event.
