My colleagues and I listened to global experts and took copiousnotes. We are looking forward to exploring how we can implement some ofthese policies and practices here. NOW is our time to act to avert an irreversible climate disaster. As we approach Thanksgiving, I am grateful to live in a community with somany everyday heroes. Below, we highlight the contributions of Los AngelesMission College President, Dr. Monte Perez. We also applaud Valley Community Healthcare on receiving a well-deserved Valley Hero Award fromthe Fernando Awards Foundation for their stellar work to serve vulnerablepatients throughout the pandemic. We also feature information about Clean California Dump Day, an opportunity to honor veterans, local free Covid vaccine opportunities and more.I hope you and your family have a very happy Thanksgiving. For many families, this year will be quite different, now that vaccines and booster shots arewidely available, allowing families to celebrate together. If you are gatheringwith loved ones this Thanksgiving, I encourage you to ensure everyone whois eligible has received their vaccine and booster shot, and consider gatheringoutside when possible, and masking where appropriate. While times are stilltough, we can be thankful that there is a safe and effective vaccine, which isnow approved for everyone five years of age and older. The more of us whoare vaccinated, the sooner we will return to our pre-pandemic lives.Tell me what is on your mind.
