The first drawing labeled Parts Book Assembly is incorrect. Second drawing is labeled HowAssembly Comes. This means that some machines were shipped out with the Clutch Assembly incorrectlyassembled in the machine. The incorrect assembly will not allow you to achieve enough tension on theWeb Drive Motor Clutch. The third drawing labeled Assembly In Field That Works Great is the correctway the Web Drive Motor Clutch Assembly is to be assembled. Regarding the mentioning of making theoblong holes on the side frame to be made a little longer to improve adjustment, you should treat this on acase-by-case basis as needed in the field. GBC has submitted the correct drawing to our vendor so theDrive Motor Clutch Assembly will be installed properly in new machines. Tech TipsFrom: Technical TrainingTech Document # 1Subject: Talon Heating ProcedureTech Tip Information:When heating up the Talon please follow the following procedure:1. Select the Top Temp and adjust the temperature using the master dial to the desired set point. Repeat forBottom Temp if using bottom heat.2. If heating both rollers, lower the top roller and press run to allow the even distribution of the heat across andaround the roller.3. If heating only the top roller, allow the roller to reach its set point in the raised position. Then lower the toproller for 5 min. (speed 1 or 2) prior to starting your web up procedure to allow the heat to evenly distribute.4. If the machine is webbed up, allow the temp to reach its set point plus 5 min. then lower the top roller andrun at speed 1 for 2 min. before beginning to feed images. There will be a waste of 2 liner feet of product, butthis is necessary to even the heat before feeding inkjet prints. Recommend doing this if the machine has beenidle for more then 15 min.5. Press the master dial to monitor the temperature as it increases. When the temperature reaches the desiredset point based on the reading on the display allow the roller to continue to rotate 5 more minutes.6. Do not reference the Wait/Ready light to indicate when the machine is up to temperature. The Readylight illuminates when the machine is 15 degrees from the set point. Use the master dial to read actual temp andmonitor that until it reaches temp. Only use the Ready/Wait light during actual lamination to help indicatewhen the temperature may be too low or too high to feed images, not during initial heat up.Any laminator will lose heat when initially started. If you start the Talon when the Ready light comes on, it is15 degrees below the set point. Now when the laminator is webbed and images are feed you will lose heat fromthe nature of physics. This heat loss combined with the initial 15 degrees will cause problems with low orspiking temperature.Steps 2 thru 4 are good practices to use on any wide format laminator. Also the plus 5 minutes should be addedto any laminators heat up procedure. This allows the heat to stabilize. Remember you are heating the metalcore of the laminator roller. This is transferring the heat through the silicone to the surface. If the core getsevenly heated the surface heat will stay more constant.3/19/2004

The resistance value for the 44 and 64heaters have been lowered which in turn will cause the machine to draw more current. The kit willinclude two heaters and one circuit breaker to accommodate the higher current draw. This kit willbecome standard issue on future Talons. A detailed comparison is given below to identify thechanges in the heaters.
