May I extend those wishes toall 632 Veterans living in Duxbury with wishes have a wonderful holiday season.Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans who have been awarded Agent Orange benefits may notbe receiving the right amounts according to the VA Inspector General. Investigations are in place and ifnecessary, adjustments will be made.The VA is offering COVID-19 booster shots only for those with weakened immune systems as of this date.For others who received vaccines at the VA, they will contact you for the 3rd booster.The VA is backlogged with a substantial increase in disability claims. Right now, it is estimated that responsefrom the VA will take 4-6 months. Backlog may not be reduced until mid-year 2022. They are in the processof hiring new claim processors.The VA has started to accept disability claims for asthma, rhinitis and sinusitis as a result of exposure toparticulate matter for those Veterans who served in southwest Asia as early as August, 1990.Gray Area future retirees can access helpful information from DFAS by logging on to: www.dfas.mil/grayareaThe VA helps when you transition from active duty to civilian life. Called TAP, Transition AssistanceProgram, is offered on line to assist in this often difficult and time-consuming effort. You will be givenan approximate pick-up time. Please be ready at least 15 minutesbefore the scheduled time. The bus may arrive 15 minutes beforeor after this scheduled time. We appreciate your patience.Transportation Fee 1.75 one-way fee for service within the area of Duxbury, Kingston,Pembroke and Marshfield. If your travel takes you outside the service area, there is a one-wayfee of 3.50. Bus passes are available for purchase from our bus drivers. The 10-ride pass costs 15.00. The bus drivers can accept exact cash or check for passes or one-time rides. The driversare unable to make change.
