Innovations in ease of usereflected in the BD Accuri C6 make thesepowerful capabilities more accessible to anew generation of flow cytometry users.The compact footprint and portable weightof the BD Accuri C6 also make it a valuablepersonal use tool for experienced researcherswho want a cytometer to be easily availablewhen and where they need it.Many BD Accuri C6 customers can begincollecting and analyzing data with thehelp of a quick start guide. The intuitiveinterface of the software guides the userthrough workflows. The system takes in datadigitally over a 7-decade dynamic rangeallowing researchers to easily re-analyzedata after it is collected. This helps ensurethat should data need to be re-examinedto accommodate new research, the data isalways available.The BD Accuri C6 flow cytometer is smallenough to easily fit on a benchtop andcan be placed in a laminar flow hood. Itmeasures 11 x 14.75 x 16.5 inches (H x W x D)(27.9 x 37.5 x 41.9 cm) and weighs just30 pounds (13.6 kg).3

Pre-Optimized Detectors,No Voltage AdjustmentsThe system is equipped with a blue and a red laser, two lightscatter detectors, and four fluorescence detectors with opticalfilters optimized for the detection of fluorochromes suchas FITC, PE, PerCP, and APC. A compact optical design, fixedalignment, and pre-optimized detector settings make thesystem easier to use.Optional filters and the Selectable Lasers Module expand theavailable fluorochrome combinations. During manufacture,laser and optical alignments are set and locked down.The result is that each BD Accuri C6 flow cytometer ismanufactured with standardized fluorescence performanceso that users do not need to adjust detector voltages.Data is digitally collected over a 7-decade dynamic range(16 million channels of digital data), making all dataavailable to users as needed. Gating strategies andfluorescence compensation values can be set before,during, or after data collection. After data is collected,the BD Accuri CFlow software Zoom function allowsvisualization of data at any scale, so that users canprecisely set gates and regions.Should updates in the values be required later, or ifoptimization is needed, simply change the settings andre-analyze the data. This flexibility also allows data to bere-examined to accommodate new research findings.The system has been put through intense testing to ensurethe design can withstand rugged conditions. Sample Flexibility with OptionalWalkaway Sample LoadingThe non-pressurized system supports any brand of12 x 75-mm (or smaller) sample tubes, includingmicrocentrifuge tubes and tubes made of polypropyleneor polystyrene. The BD Accuri C6 flow cytometer simplifiessystem maintenance with automatic cleaning cycles oninstrument shutdown. The system can employ laboratorygrade water for sheath fluid, reducing operating costs.A unique low-pressure pumping system drives the fluidics.A sheath-focused core enables event rates of up to 10,000events per second and a sample concentration of over5 x 106 cells per mL. Intuitive Software—Master in MinutesBD Accuri CFlow software has an intuitive user interfacethat was developed based on hundreds of hours observingresearchers using flow cytometers.As a result, most flow cytometry users find it so easy to use,they are collecting and analyzing data in less than an hour.Software options and instrument controls are clearly visiblefrom the software’s tabbed interface which enables accessto the collection, analysis, and statistics functions.Data is acquired from the Collect tab. You can create newplots, hide or delete plots, or copy and re-use plots fromthis tab. The Analyze tab displays plots and samples in anycombination. In the Analyze tab, users can create colorhistogram overlays, print multiple plots, and comparesamples. Use the Zoom tool to magnify areas of data, insteadof voltage adjustments to set the channel range viewed, tobetter visualize results.Sample data can be customized in the Statistics tab. Data isdisplayed in a master table, and statistics can be easily copiedand pasted into spreadsheets to facilitate reporting.
