Our Lady of La Salette ParishFa mily Sent on MissionMission Statement for Our Lady of La Salette ParishWe, the Roman Catholic Family of Our Lady of La Sale!e, have the living andwelcoming presence of Jesus Christ as the center of our life, especially in the Eucharist.Through worship, the proclama"on of the Gospel, service, and the work of theNew Evangeliza"on, we con"nue the reconciling ministry of Jesus Christ. The Nativity of the Lord / The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and JosephDecember 25/26, 2021O Child, who willed to have for your crib a manger;O Creator of the universe, who stripped yourself of divine glory;O Redeemer, who offered your vulnerable body in sacrifice for the salvation of humanity!May the radiance of your birth light up the night of the world.May the power of your message of love thwart the proud snares of the evil one.May the gift of your life make us understand ever more clearlythe worth of the life of each human being.Too much blood is still being shed on the earth!Too much violence and too many conflicts trouble the peaceful coexistence of nations! You come to bring us peace. You are our peace! You, Mary, who keep watch over your all -powerful Son,grant us your eyes to contemplate him with faith;grant us your heart to worship him with love.O Holy Night, so long awaited, which has united God and man for ever! You rekindle our hope. You fill us with ecstatic wonder. You assure us of the triumph of love over hatred, of life over death. In the luminous silence of your Nativity, you, Emmanuel, continue to speak to us.And we are ready to listen to you.Amen!— From the Midnight Mass Homily of Saint John Paul II, December 24, 2003.Image adapted from Luis com/lasale"eberkley

Families of Parishes aregroups of parishes, generally three to six, sharingresources to advance the mission, including having multiple priests and deaconsserving the Family of Parishes. This new model will allow the priests, deacons, religiousand lay staff associated with each parish to better share their gifts and talents with thewhole Family of Parishes. The shift to Families of Parishes is a response to Synod 16, which called for a completerenewal of structures of our parishes to make them radically mission-oriented. Our goalis to make our parishes places where individuals and families can encounter Jesusanew, grow as disciples, and be equipped to be witnesses to the Risen Christ. The current health and economic crises have accelerated the process of renewing theway our parishes are organized and structured. In addition to the already problematicpriest shortage, we now have fewer material resources to keep our mission active.Archbishop Vigneron, in consultation with clergy and lay advisors, has determined thatnow is the time to act.Our mission hasn’t changed, but how we approach that mission must shift in responseto our circumstances. We must move forward with greater collaboration and betterstewardship of our resources. With this shift, we take inspiration from the early Church. From the beginning, Christ knew the mission he gave his disciples would be difficultand that they would face many challenges, so he sent them to preach the Gospeltwo-by-two (Mark 6:6-7 and Luke 10:1). Like us, the early disciples knew what wasasked of them, but not necessarily how to accomplish it or what the end result wouldbe. St. Paul himself was shipwrecked three times (2 Cor 11:25) but wherever he was,he remained committed to the same mission with which we are entrusted today.Because of St. Paul’s commitment and the commitment of the early apostles, theGospel was heard across the world.Like the disciples, we have been asked to unite and go on mission together, enhancingeach other’s strengths and working collaboratively to Unleash the Gospel around us.And while the impact of the pandemic may feel like a shipwreck – like St. Paul, this isnot what we planned or wanted – we know that God wants us to continue his missionwith the same zeal and dedication of the early apostles. He will be with us every step ofthe way.
