Twenty-Fi h Sunday in Ordinary TimeWLet Us Celebrateelcome! We are glad you are here to join us in worship in the celebra on of the Eucharist(Mass). At the Eucharist, the Church comes together to hear the Word of the Lord, to pray forthe world's needs, to offer the sacrifice of the Cross in praise and thanks to God, to receiveChrist Jesus in communion, and then to be sent forth in the Spirit as disciples of the Gospel. If you are notfamiliar with the Mass, the Order of the Mass can be found on pages 3-29 of the Breaking Bread hymnal. We call par cular a en on to the text of the Gloria and the Nicene Creed located on the inside cover. September 19, 2021Dear Parishioners and FriendsLast weekend's remembrance of 9/11 was moving and meaningful. I am grateful to all who entered intothe few minutes of silence a er my homily. Silence can be powerful and last weekend that was indeed thecase. Thank you!Kyle Gregg, our Faith Forma on Director, called forth a great team of catechists last Sunday morning.Registra ons have been slowly coming in. May I encourage you to help us by registering now so that wecan address the necessary planning for your family’s involvement.Parishioners at the Star of the Sea Parish have been asking how long will the Chapel be open. TheColumbus Day weekend Masses, October 9/10, will be our last weekend. We will then move back to theTown Church for all Masses. What a remarkable testament of faith in that the Chapel has been celebra ngMass in that humble building for 125 years.Once again, this year, I will be offering “The Blessing of Animals” on Sunday October 3rd from 2 to 3 p.m. infront of Holy Family Church. This year it falls most approximately on the eve of the Feast of St. Francis. The Psalm for this weekend proclaims: “God is my help; the Lord sustains my life. Freely will I offer yousacrifice; I will praise your name, O Lord for it is good”.Peace,Fr. Ron25th Sunday in Ordinary TimeLots of people suffer from poor me syndrome. You know the type. Someone else’s problem is never as big astheirs; no one has suffered as much as they have. The glass is always half empty, there is never anything to lookforward to, and no one really cares about them. “Ah, poor me! What am I to do? How will I ever manage?”Jesus gives us many reasons to see our glass as full to the brim. We have faith, hope and love that will see usthrough anything. We have confidence in His promise to be with us always. We have our family and those wholove us. There is much to be thankful for and no reason to envy others. But that does not mean we will never feel the pain of suffering. But we can choose our response. We can dosomething about it, or we can give in to it. Our best response is one of service, so that we stop focusing onourselves and look to see others. We can feed the hungry, or lament hunger in the world. We can comfort thesorrowing, or focus on how much sadness the world has known. We can visit the sick and imprisoned or we cancomplain about how lonely the world can be. Be part of the solu on or be part of the problem. Faith gives usthat choice.
