Youth Programspg 6BABYSITTER TRAINING WORKSHOPThe American Red Cross Babysitter Training courseoffers youth the opportunity to learn the skills thatevery parent looks for in a babysitter. This 6½ hourcourse provides youth with safety, basic childcare, safeplay, first aid and critical emergency action skills. Othertopics included are interviewing for a babysitting job,diapering and feeding techniques. Students must be 11years old to receive a certificate of completion. pg 8Youth ProgramsJR. RUNNING CLUBThe Grosse Ile Jr. Running Club is open to all children in grades 2-5 (in the fall of 2014) who wishto improve their physical fitness through running. Practice will begin September 4th. Participantswill have an opportunity to compete in cross country races of between 1 and 1.6 miles throughoutthe fall racing season. Practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-4:45pm behind theGrosse Ile Middle School. Please wear proper shoes and bring a water bottle and insect repellantto all practices and races. Please note, while parents are not required to stay for all practices, wedo require parents to transport their child to and be present at all competition events.A current medical physical is required before participating. It must be on the Michigan High SchoolAthletic Association, Inc. Medical History Form and Physical Exam & Clearance and Consent Form.Deadline to register is September 24. Registration is 50 and includes a running t-shirt, race feesand awards.
