1. Gather your materials and print the pattern pieces. Cut out the pattern pieces leaving theblack lines intact. Place on denim, making sure to pay attention to the folds and number ofcuts.2. Cut one hat circle, two hat bands and four hat brim pieces3. Place the two hat band pieces together, matching all sides and placing WRONG sidestogether. 4. Pin short sides together. Stitch 1/2" seam allowance on both short sides.5. With the wrong sides together, pin sew the hat circle to the hat band. Stitch 1/2" seamaround the circle, raw edges showing. 6. Place two brim pieces together with the wrong sides touching and matching short sides.7. Stitch 1/2" seam allowances on both short ends. Repeat for remaining brim pieces.8. With the wrong sides together and lining up short seams, pin sew long edge. Repeat forinner, shorter edge. 9. Now, pin sew the hat brim to the hat band (already assembled), having the wrong sidestouching. Stitch 1/2" seam allowance, using the previous stitching line on the brim's topedge.10.To fray the edges there are two options. If you want to do this step by hand, find aloose thread from the raw edge and gently pull away. Stop pulling threads when you reach1/8" from the stitching line. Continue this process to your liking. A similar effect can bereached by laundering the hat with bath towels.
