Head CoachCyndee BennettCyndee Bennett enters her second season as head coachof the powerhouse Bruin Softball program. Prior to becominghead coach, Bennett spent six seasons as an assistant withthe program, primarily focusing on the Bruin pitching staff.In Bennett’s inaugural season, the Bruins possessed a36-21 overall record resulting to a Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) and a Region 18 runner-up finish. For theperformance on the field, four Bruins were tabbed as Region18 selections including three first team selections in KyRaeKogianes, Megan Bradshaw, and Riana Splinter and secondteam member Megan Reed.Under the watch of Coach Bennett, the Bruins combinedto hit .338 as team with an astounding 50 homeruns and averaging just under seven runs per game. The pitching staffcombined for a 4.06 earned run average (ERA) while pullingout a near 2:1 strikeout to walk ratio.Bennett taught at Olympus High School and was the headcoach of Titan Softball for six years before accepting the headcoaching position at SLCC. That list includes former Bruin aceMaCauley Flint, a two-time NJCAA First Team All-American,National Fast-pitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First TeamAll-American and 2013 Region 18 Pitcher of the Year. Flint isnow at Weber State University.Cyndee has also coached the likes of NJCAA First Team AllAmerican Ariel Zimmerman, a standout pitcher who moved onto Southern Utah University. Several more NJCAA All-Americans have played under Coach Bennett, including shortstopMaddy Woodard (Second Team NJCAA All-American, NJCAA All-Tournament Team 2013), outfielder Malia Campos(NJCAA First Team All-American 2012, NJCAA Second TeamAll-American, NJCAA All-Tournament Team, NJCAA MostOutstanding Offensive Player 2013), and Cyd Allen (DiamondSports Catcher of the Year, NJCAA First Team All-American2010) among many others.Bennett played softball collegiately at the University ofUtah, where she still owns several records that stand today.She was twice selected as an All-Conference player and hailsfrom Glendale, CA.6

Assistant CoachTara BendtCoach Tara Bendt enters her second season as the lead assistant coach for the nationally-renowned SLCC Softball program. Last season, she helped Head Coach Cyndee Bennettand the SLCC softball team to a Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) second place finish with a 36-21 overall recordand a Region 18 runner-up finish.Prior to coming to SLCC, Coach Bendt served as an assistant coach at Utah Valley University where she helped lead theWolverines to a third place finish in the Pacific Coast SoftballConference with the most wins in school history with a 35-20overall record in 2013.She worked as a volunteer assistant at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV) in the spring of 2012 and was a teammanager for University of Utah Softball in 2010-11.Tara began her collegiate playing career at SLCC where sheearned SWAC Player of the Year honors as an outfielder andwas named an NJCAA First Team All-American in 2008. CoachBendt was a Distinguished Academic All-American at SLCC as well.She then transferred to UNLV and led the Rebels in batting average in each of her two seasons hitting .379 as ajunior in 2009 and closed out her collegiate campaign by hiting .382. For her performance, Bendt was named a FirstTeam All-Mountain West Conference player in 2010 and was a two-time all-conference scholar athlete.Bendt worked under Bennett as an assistant coach at Olympus High School from 2011-13.
