This Calendar is printed several months before the academic year for which it is operative. Its contents are subject tocontinuous review and the University reserves the right to alter anything described herein without notice other thanthrough the regular processes of the University. In the interpretation of academic regulations, the UniversitySenate is the final authority. The Registrar will assist in interpreting academic regulations; however, it is the responsibilityof students to see that their academic programs will meet University regulations.The Board of Governors has final authority on all financial matters. The financial policies will be enforced throughFinancial Services, under the direction of the Associate Vice-President Finance & Treasurer. Notwithstanding any otherprovision in this Calendar, Acadia University does not accept any responsibility for loss or damage suffered or incurred byany person, group, or organization as a result of suspension or termination of services, courses, or classes caused byreason of strikes, work stoppages, labour disagreements, slowdowns, lockouts, disputes, riots, weather, damage toUniversity property, or for any other cause.Some Departments, Schools, or Faculties provide students with documents descriptive of their individual offerings orrequirements. The Academic Calendar takes precedence over all other publications. PART I: ADMISSIONIn keeping with the form and intent of the original Act of Incorporation, Acadia University admits academically qualified students ofany age, sex, gender, race, religion, creed, colour or ethnic or national origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activitiesgenerally accorded or made available to the students at the University. It does not discriminate on the basis of age, colour, religion,creed, sex, gender, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, an irrational fear of contracting an illness or disease, ethnic,national or aboriginal origin, family status, marital status, source of income, political belief, affiliation or activity in administration of itseducational policies, scholarship and loan programs and athletic and other University administered programs.Application ProceduresApplications for admission to Acadia University must be made online or on the prescribed application form, and must be supported byofficial copies of all high school and other records of academic work. These documents must be submitted to the Admissions Officetogether with the appropriate application processing fee. Applicants who are attending, or who have attended, other postsecondaryinstitutions must have their official transcripts sent direct for evaluation or provided in an envelope sealed by the institution. Furtherevidence may be required of an applicant's suitability for certain programs of study such as Education and Music.In all cases, it is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that all documents related to or requested in support of an application aresubmitted, including final marks needed to confirm a previous offer of conditional admission.If an offer of admission is made by the University to the applicant, an acceptance deposit must be sent. This deposit is, in all instances,not refundable. It is applied in full to university fees at the time of registration. Details of the amount of the deposit are stated in theletters of admission.Documents submitted in support of an application for admission are retained by the University and are not returned to the applicant.Information and documents received for persons who do not register by their expected date are retained for one year beyond theexpected date of registration and then destroyed.Enrolment in some programs is limited by Sena
