1.GATHERSUPPLIESWe’re glad your doctor prescribed STELARA to help withyour plaque psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis symptoms. Onlya patient or caregiver trained by a healthcare professionalshould inject STELARA . Do not use if the expiration date haspassed. Do not shake the carton or prefilled syringeat any time.InjectionFor psoriasis patients weighing 100 kg (220 lbs)or less—and most psoriatic arthritis patients—therecommended dose is 45 mg initially and 4 weekslater, followed by 45 mg every 12 weeks.For patients with psoriasis—or psoriatic arthritiswith co-existent moderate-to-severe plaquepsoriasis—weighing more than 100 kg (220 lbs), therecommended dose is 90 mg initially and 4 weekslater, followed by 90 mg every 12 weeks.

2.KNOW YOURSYRINGEStart by taking the syringe out of the package carefully,without shaking it or touching the plunger or activationclips. Don’t drop the syringe.NEEDLECOVERGATHER THE FOLLOWING SUPPLIES:Remember to wash your handsbefore you proceed.NEEDLEANTISEPTICWIPEVIEWINGWINDOWThe liquid should beclear and colorless tolight yellow.You might see a fewwhite particles.COTTON BALLOR GAUZE ERNEEDLEGUARDACTIVATIONCLIPSPLUNGERHEAD

3.WHERE TOINJECTUse the antiseptic wipe to clean your chosen injectionsite and let your skin dry. Don’t touch, fan, or blow onthe injection site after cleaning.WHERE SHOULDYOU INJECT?*OUTER UPPER ARMIn case a caretaker is injecting you, the outerarea of your upper arm is also an injection site.STOMACH AREA(EXCEPT 2-INCH RADIUS AROUND BELLY BUTTON)BUTTOCKSFRONT OF THIGH*STEER CLEAR OF INJECTING IN SKIN THAT’S TENDER,BRUISED, RED, OR HARD.CHANGE YOUR INJECTION SITE EACH TIME YOU INJECT.PLEASE SEE “HOW TO INJECT” ON THE REVERSE SIDE.

4.HOW TOINJECTIT’S TIMETO INJECTRemove the needle cover by pulling itstraight off.DO NOT: Worry if you see a drop of liquid Touch the plunger while removingthe needle cover Let the exposed needle touch anythingUse the syringe if it is droppedwithout the needle cover in placeHold the syringe in one hand betweenyour thumb and index finger.Use your other hand to pinch your skinand insert the needle into your skin at a45 angle with a quick, dart-like motion.45 PLEASE SEE TIPS AND HOW-TO-PREPARE INFO ON THEREVERSE SIDE. 5.INJECTMEDICINENow use your thumb to push theplunger head completely down betweenthe needle guard wings.DON’T PULL BACK ON THE PLUNGER AT ANY TIME.

6.COMPLETEINJECTION7.DISPOSE &SET ALARMToss your used syringe into your sharpscontainer.* Don’t have a sharps container?Call Janssen CarePath at 877-CarePath(877-227-3728) for more information.Once all the medicine has been injected,maintain the pressure on the plungerhead and gently remove the needle fromyour skin.Check the injection site. A little bloodis perfectly normal. Just apply lightpressure with a cotton ball or gauze paduntil it stops. Do not rub the injectionsite. You can cover it with an adhesivebandage, if necessary.Slowly take your thumb off the plungerhead; you’ll hear a click. That’sthe sound of the needle guardautomatically activating.12WEEKSThat’s it! You’re done, and the bestpart is that you don’t have to injectSTELARA again for 12 whole weeks.Please remember to set an alarm ormark your calendar for the next dose.*IMPORTANT: Never dispose of used syringes or puncture-resistant containerwith your household garbage. Once your container is full, please followthe guidelines for the right way to dispose of your syringes.
