3President’s messageHave you ever been asked why you joined HFMA? I am sure the answer is different for each of you. Perhaps you value being a life timelearner and find the educational events meaningful. These relationships have been the source formany outstanding ideas, great suggestionsfor improvement, mentoring moments, leadson new positions and often, new friendships. That’s my HFMA. So I ask you; what is yourHFMA? What does it mean to you? Whatkeeps you inspired? This year, we will be asking you this question. The theme for HFMA National this yearis “Go Beyond.” I can’t think of a more fittingphrase as our entire industry is grapplingwith a staggering amount of change and op-PresidentRenee GeorgePremier Health(937) ndrea KovallCHI Health at Home(513) identCraig GangerPremier Health(937) 499-5517caganger@premierhealth.comFor others, HFMA provides you an opportunity to network with peers and thoughtleaders to learn the latest tricks of thetrade. Maybe, you want to give back tothe industry you grew up in. Still othersfind value in forming new friendships withpeople working within the same industry. Some value the opportunity to gain leadership experience through committee or boardparticipation. When people ask me why Iparticipate, I say it’s for all of these reasons.I was encouraged to join HFMA by my healthcare finance professor when I was an undergrad at University of Kentucky. Through myyears of membership, I have built a networkof resources across the country. I am oftenstruck by how small the health care worldtruly is because of people I have been introduced to through events, educational andleadership opportunities afforded by HFMA.2015-2016 officersSecretaryYvonne FockeAdvanced Patient Solutions, LLC(513) 673-3995yfocke@cinci.rr.comTreasurerTony st-PresidentDanielle KraatzUC Health(513) 585-8071danielle.kraatz@uchealth.comportunities to reinvent ourselves. 4new member spotlightKelly DornheggenI began my health care career as a Health and Data Analyst atUnited Medical Resources in 2000. I was there for 2 years assistingcustomers find the best PPO for their companies’ needs.I spent the next 3 years at The Drake Center in their Performance Improvement department. This was during the time of the implementation of Medicare PPS where Isupported in the implementation, and the re-creation of patient reporting needs to accommodate and monitor Medicare reimbursement. I alsobegan my career in cost accounting at Drake by managing their DecisionSupport system for both budgeting and cost analysis. In December 2006 I started at TriHealth, Inc. in their Decision SupportDepartment where I have been ever since. I started as a consultant doingspecial projects, which ultimately led to a Project Management position. My first project was the lead on the implementation of the EPSiCost Accounting System. This led to the position of Manager of FinancialAnalysis and Cost Accounting. This role consisted of numerous profitability reports, creating Key Performance Indicators, budget assistance andthe foray into the world of Data Warehousing. With the implementation ofEPIC in May of 2012, I was a key resource in extracting data from EPIC intoour Data Warehouse to use across multiple reporting platforms. In October of 2014, I took the position of Senior Finance Manager ofHospital Operations. In this role I am responsible for the hospitals’ budgetprocess as well as the monthly variance reporting, productivity analysisand continued key metric reporting.I never thought I would have as large of a technical component to my jobas I do, but I find I would not want it any other way. I love knowing wheremy data is coming from and validating all of the processing it must gothrough to be able provide accurate information to senior leadership toassist in making sound business decisions.I have been married for 12 years and have three daughters; 9 year oldtwins and a 6 year old. I spend a lot of my free time watching/shuttlingto soccer for all 3 and the various other sports they play. I enjoy running, playing tennis and reading when time allows! I joined HFMA to networkand to learn more about how other facilities are handling the everydaychanges in the Health Care world.MEMBER MILESTONESWelcome to our new andtransfering members!James Campbell, Manager PB Billing,Cincinnati Children’s Hospital MedicalCenterLuis Chanaga, VP Finance Operations& CFO,Grandview Medical CenterSabrina Cochran, Manager – SingleBilling Office, TriHealth, Inc.Kelly Dornheggen, Accounting,TriHealth, Inc.Kimberly Eckert, Program ManagerRevenue Cycle, Mercy HealthMike Falig, Director AccountingServices,Health AllianceElise Fritz, Account Executive,Keybridge Medical Revenue CareJennifer S.
