These interactions include high parent expectations for theirscholar to succeed in school and to attend postsecondary education and activities that encouragelearning and structure at home.Parents have the greatest impact on their scholar’s academic achievement. Parents are the largestinfluence on their scholar’s sense of responsibility and attitude towards scholastic achievement.Positive reinforcement of these traits at home is invaluable to your scholar’s academic progress.The tone of the standard of excellence is set at home. Ultimately parents are responsible for theirscholar’s perception and dedication to their academic studies. Parental attention to scholarcoursework and assignments is essential to his/her success at Haas Hall Academy. Parentaleffort is consistently associated with higher levels of achievement, and the magnitude of the effectof parental effort is substantial!College Entrance Test Preparations—Yearly RequirementHaas Hall Academy is one of the nation’s premiere college preparatory high schools. Parentsmust ensure their scholar’s compliance in preparing them for college admissions.All scholars grades 9-11 must take either the ACT or SAT at least once a year. Haas HallAcademy's School Code is: 042762. Results of the exam score must be on file at Haas HallAcademy. Our scholars’ self-respect and their respect for others arefoundational to success in any endeavor after Haas Hall Academy.Parental Involvement CommitteeHaas Hall Academy’s parental involvement committee is comprised of parents, communitymembers, faculty, staff and members of the administration. Parents interested in participating inthe committee must contact Dr. Martin W. Schoppmeyer, Jr., Founder and Superintendent ofSchools, by September 1 of each academic year.The committee will meet four times during the year at flexible times and days. The committeewill annually review the content and effectiveness of the parental involvement policy incontinuously improving the academic quality of Haas Hall Academy. Parentalinvolvement and support in your scholar's academic endeavor is the key to the overall success ofyour scholar's academic career at Haas Hall Academy.Education is a partnership. Involved parents are knowledgeable parents. Remember, this is yourschool. Be an active participant!Haas Hall Academy understands the importance of parental and community involvement inpromoting higher student achievement and general good will between the school and those itserves. Therefore, Haas Hall Academy shall strive to develop and maintain the capacity formeaningful and productive parental and community involvement that will result in mutuallybeneficial activities for the school, students, parents and the community. To achieve such goals,Haas Hall Academy shall work to: Involve parents and the community in the development of the long range planning ofHaas Hall Academy; Have a coordinated involvement program where the activities of the school enhance theinvolvement strategies of the programs such as the Parent Faculty Council; Explain to parents and the community the state’s content and achievement standards,state and local student assessments, how Haas Hall Academy’s curriculum is alignedwith the assessments and how parents can work with Haas Hall Academy to improvetheir child’s academic achievement; Provide parents with materials and training they need to assist them to help their scholarachieve; Haas Hall Academy may use parent resource centers of other community basedorganizations encourage parental involvement and provide literacy and technologytraining for parents; Educate school staff, with parental assistance, in ways to work and communicate withparents and to implement parent involvement program that promote positivepartnerships between the school and parents; Keep parents informed about parental involvement programs, meetings and otheractivities; Find ways to eliminate barriers that keep parents from being involved in their scholar’seducation; Train parents to enhance and promote the involvement of other parents; Provide reasonable support for other parental involvement activities as parents mayreasonably request.Haas Hall Academy will conduct an annual review of its parental involvement policiesexamining their affect on promoting higher student achievement. The review shall be conductedby a committee consisting of parents and other community members, faculty, staff, andmember(s) of the administration.Process for Resolving Parental ConcernsHaas Hall Academy is a dynamic community of learners and stakeholders that work together toensure one of the finest accelerated, college preparatory educations in the nation. E-mail is a poor mediumbecause people tend to overestimate their ability to convey their tone in an e-mail. Researchindicates the success rate at understanding the tone of the message is significantly higher verballythan via e-mail. Haas Hall Academy recommends a face-to-face meeting to have a positive,constructive and meaningful discussion.If after the initial meeting your concern remains unresolved, we ask you call Haas Hall Academy(479) 966.4930 and make an appointment to meet with the person(s) with whom you have aconcern and the Superintendent of Schools. An appointment will be made at the earliestconvenience of the Superintendent.Mandatory Parent/Scholar OrientationsAt the beginning of each school year, Haas Hall Academy holds mandatory orientation meetingsfor all new and returning scholars and their families. These meetings provide everyone withessential information that will ensure the academic success of your scholar. An informationalpacket will be distributed to the parent(s) of each scholar. These packets will convey: The school’s parental involvement program and its seamless transition from junior tosenior high; The recommended role of the parent, student, teacher and school; Ways for parents to become involved in the school and their scholar’s education; A survey for parents’ regarding their interests concerning volunteering at the school; A schedule of activities planned throughout the school year to encourage parentalinvolvement; and; Procedures to allow the parents and teachers to communicate in a regular, two-way, andmeaningful manner with the scholar’s faculty members and school administration.Parent Involvement MeetingsHaas Hall Academy holds formal parental involvement meetings where parents are given areport on the state of the school and an overview of: What scholars will be learning; How scholars are assessed; What parents should expect for their scholar’s education; How a parent can assist and make a difference in their scholar’s education.This information will also be distributed and reinforced by faculty duringFaculty/Parent/Scholar Conferences. All stakeholders will understand their roles in the sharedresponsibility for the high academic achievement required at Haas Hall Academy.Parent/Faculty CouncilThe Parent Faculty Council (PFC) of Haas Hall Academy was established on September 28, 2004.The main purpose of the PFC is to establish a parent-driven organization to assist Haas HallAcademy in creating opportunities and providing additional avenues for direct parentalinvolvement at our institution. Haas Hall Academy expects 100% membership in the PFCannually. The purposes of the PFC are as follows: Provide a formalized network of parents that supports Haas Hall Academy its academicmission, vision and stated goals; Supply a collective voice of parents to Haas Hall Academy’s faculty, staff, administrationand school board;HAAS HALL ACADEMY: EVERY SCHOLAR, EVERY DAY – COLLEGE BOUND

Haas Hall Academy incorporates four (4)Parent/Faculty/Scholar Conferences per calendar year. The dates for the 2014.2015 school termare:Fall semester: Wednesday, September 10 & Thursday September 11, 2014: (2:30 p.m. –6:00 p.m.); and Thursday, November 13, 2014: (2:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.)Spring semester: Wednesday, February 4 and Thursday, February 5, 2015 (2:30 p.m. –6:00 p.m.); and Thursday, April 23, 2015: (2:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.).Haas Hall Academy Google GroupsAs part of Haas Hall Academy’s Parental Involvement Plan, Haas Hall Academy has an activeGoogle Groups site. Google Groupsprovides a platform for all stakeholders to communicate ideas and interests relative to theirscholar’s academic success.From the Desk of Dr. S.From the Desk of Dr. S. provides informative, weekly e-mails to our community of stakeholderswith pertinent information about Haas Hall Academy. These e-mails are from the Founder andSuperintendent of Schools, Dr. Martin W. Schoppmeyer, Jr. The goals of these communicationsare to: Spotlight the academic successes of our individual scholars and of the overall school as awhole; Provide timely and accurate interpretations of Haas Hall Academy’s benchmark testresults; Educate and inform stakeholders about recent changes in Arkansas education law with aprimary focus on charter school law; Provide a positive open line of communication with all stakeholders.Calling PostHaas Hall Academy uses calling tree software to inform and remind parents of upcoming eventswhere parental participation is required or highly encouraged.
