License Eligibility Employment Offer Provisional License Code of Virginia requires that School Divisions only hireapplicants who are eligible for licensure for certifiedpositions Candidates must complete a certified application with PWCSand apply for each vacancyKey Points Candidates must show evidence of license eligibility to beconsidered for hire with PWCS. It is not necessary to hold a teaching license in order to behired as a teacher however you must provide enoughdocumentation to prove license eligibility for the positionsought. Provisional Licensure is a post-employment process after anoffer of employment has been established. Candidates mustfirst be placed in a contracted teaching assignment; alicensure specialist will contact you with instructions on howto apply for a license after the new hire process for a positionrequiring a license has been completed.

Provisional licensure is a post-employmentprocess. Candidates must first be hired by PWCSin a position requiring a license. A provisional license is only issued by theVirginia Department of Education.ProvisionalLicensure School divisions do not issue teaching licenses.
