Apprentices will enhanceand develop communications, relationship building,facilitation and workforce skills. In addition, TCISolutions’ focus on diversity is providing opportunitiesfor people of color to have a pathway into teaching.Staff from Apprenticeship Minnesota met with representatives from TCISolutions in Bloomington to celebrate the creation of the state’s firstyouth development practitioner apprenticeship.Apprenticeship-growth initiative on-track to reach goalsThe Minnesota Apprenticeship Initiative (MAI) is getting closer to reaching its goal to register 1,000 newapprentices by September 2020.MAI is a partnership with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development(DEED) that helps employers build customized apprenticeship programs. Employers that recently createdapprenticeships through MAI include Metro Transit, MRG Tool and Die, Custom Mold and Design,cmERDC and Traverse Care Center. The initiative offers grants to offset costs associated with building anapprenticeship program.Midway through the initiative, nearly 250 apprentices are already actively training in 35 newapprenticeship programs in the high-growth targeted industries of advanced manufacturing, agriculture,health care, information technology or transportation. Health fair connects employers, jobseekers, Apprenticeship MinnesotaThis spring, Takoda hosted a Healthcare Career Fair which broughttogether students, jobseekers, employers, training providers andApprenticeship Minnesota for a day of networking and learning.Takoda is a division of the American Indian OIC dedicated tohelping people in poverty, the unemployed or those seekingadvancement obtain a job and educational foundation.At the Healthcare Career Fair on April 18, jobseekers gatheredto learn about careers in healthcare, while healthcare employerslearned about creative recruitment strategies includingapprenticeship programs through Apprenticeship Minnesota.Darcus Mitchell and Leslie Philmon, ApprenticeshipMinnesota, answered questions about apprenticeship atthe Takoda Healthcare Career Fair.Takoda officials said four students in the group’s patient servicesspecialist training program were offered internships, and threeadditional attendees accepted internships from the connections they made at the event.The Healthcare Career Fair was funded through a U.S. Department of Labor Accelerator Grant.Minnesota’s Building andConstruction Trades Councilsreceive national awardThe Mark H.
