KnockONThe KnockON feature allows you to double-tap the screen to easilyturn it on or off.Turning the screen on1 Double-tap the middle of the screen to turn the screen on.2 Unlock the screen or access any of the available shortcuts orwidgets.Turning the screen off1 Double-tap an empty area of the screen or the Status Bar.2 The screen will turn off.A For better recognition performance, tap on the center of thescreen, but not on the bottom or on the top of the screen.Knock CodeThe Knock Code feature allows you to create your own unlock codeusing a combination of knocks on the screen. A Proximity/Ambient light sensor- Proximity sensor: During a call, the proximity sensor turns offthe screen and disables touch functionality when the device isin close proximity to the human body. It turns the screen backon and enables touch functionality when the device is outside aspecific range.- Ambient light sensor: The ambient light sensor analyzes theambient light intensity when the auto-brightness control modeis turned on.A Volume keys- Adjust the volume for ringtones, calls or notifications.- While using the Camera, gently press a Volume key to take aphoto. To take continuous shots of photos, press and hold theVolume key.- Press the Volume Down (-) key twice to launch the Camera appwhen the screen is locked or turned off. Press the Volume Up ( )key twice to launch Capture .A Power/Lock key- Briefly press the key when you want to turn the screen on or off.- Press and hold the key when you want to select a power controloption.A Some functions may be restricted for access, depending on thedevice specifications.A Do not put heavy objects on the device or sit on it. Turning the power on or offTurning the power onWhen the power is turned off, press and hold the Power/Lock key,which is located in the back of the phone.A When the device is turned on for the first time, initial configurationtakes place. The first booting time for the smart phone may belonger than usual.Turning the power offPress and hold the Power/Lock key, then select Power off.Power control optionsPress and hold the Power/Lock key, then select an option.A Power off: Turn off the device.A Restart: Restart the device.A Turn on Airplane mode: Block telecommunication-relatedfunctions, including making phone calls, messaging and browsingthe Internet. Installing the SIM cardInsert the SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card provided by yourservice provider to start using your device.1 To remove the back cover, hold the phone firmly in one hand. A Make sure to use the USB cable provided with your device.A Make sure to use an LG-approved charger, battery and chargingcable. Charging the battery with a third-party charger may causethe battery to explode or may damage the device.A Using the device when it is charging may cause electric shock. Touse the device, stop charging it.A Remove the charger from the power socket after the device is fullycharged. This prevents unnecessary power consumption.A Another way to charge the battery is by connecting a USB cablebetween the device and a desktop or laptop computer. This maytake a longer time than charging the battery in the common way.A Do not charge the battery by using a USB hub that is unable tomaintain the rated voltage. Using the battery efficientlyBattery lifespan may decrease if you keep many apps and functionsrunning simultaneously and continuously.Stop apps and functions from running in the background to increasebattery life.To minimize battery consumption, follow these tips:A Turn off the Bluetooth or Wi-Fi network function when not usingthem.A Set the screen timeout to as short a time as possible.A Minimize the screen brightness.A Set a screen lock when the device is not used.A Check the battery usage details and close any downloaded appsthat are draining the battery.Touch screenYou can familiarize yourself with how to control your device by usingtouch screen gestures.TappingLightly tap with your fingertip to select or run an app or option.Basic Functions23

Touching and holdingTouch and hold for several seconds to display a menu with availableoptions.Double-tappingTap twice quickly to zoom in or out on a web page or map.DraggingTouch an item, such as an app or widget, then move your finger toanother location in a controlled motion. SwipingTouch the screen with your finger and move it quickly withoutpausing. You can use this gesture to scroll through a list, a web page,photos, screens, and more.Pinching and spreadingPinch two fingers to zoom out such as on a photo or map. A A touch screen failure may occur if you use the device near amagnetic, metallic or conductive material.A If you use the device under bright lights, such as direct sunlight,the screen may not be visible, depending on your position. Use thedevice in a shady location or a location with an ambient light that isnot too bright and bright enough to read books.A Do not press the screen with excessive force.A Gently tap with your fingertip on the option you want.A The touch control may not work properly if you tap while wearing aglove or by using the tip of your fingernail.A Touch control may not work properly if the screen is moist or wet.A The touch screen may not function properly if a screen-protectivefilm or accessory purchased from a third party store is attached tothe device.Basic Functions26

Home screenHome screen overviewThe Home screen is the starting point for accessing various functionsand apps on your device. Tap on any screen to directly go to theHome screen.You can manage all apps and widgets on the Home screen.
