This group of dedicated, hardworkingand passionate individuals led by our award-winning DirectorMeghan Reed, along with the staff, Board of Trustees and volunteershave accomplished so much this past year.In 2019, working in collaboration with the City of Warren andthe Western Reserve Port Authority, TCHS purchased an historichome on Millionaire’s Row in the heart of Warren’s central businessdistrict in order to create a research and welcome center space thatwill also serve as a focal point for a growing downtown culturalheritage district.Julie Green, PresidentOktoberfest 2019 was a huge success in September drawing morepeople than ever. It is TCHS’s most productive fundraiser and friendraiser! We work withso many different groups throughout the county and the region to make it a success eachyear and it is now a welcome annual tradition for the community. TCHS understands theimportance of historic preservation and works tirelessly towards the goal of preservingoral and written history as well as object preservation through our collections numberingin the thousands. We want to make sure that EVERYONE’S story is included in TrumbullCounty’s history; now and for centuries to come.Amazingly, this organization has been working together since 1843 to further ourmission. It is humbling and a little daunting to work with an organization that has beenin existence for 177 years and my goal is to build on their preservation efforts alongsideour excellent staff and board throughout my tenure as President. I encourage anyone whohas an interest in history and love their community to join us!

A Message from the DirectorOur Team2019 was personally the most fulfilling year I have had at theTrumbull County Historical Society. We challenged ourselves togrow our capacity to create a larger impact in our community, and the staff, the board of Trustees, along with our funders andmembers met the task of expanding our facility and broadeningour vision. In March, TCHS purchased the Morgan History Center to providea public space to make our archive of over 7,000 images anddocuments available to all. This process included plans to restorethe John Stark Edwards House, built in 1807, as a historic artifactand expand the stories we tell at the Edwards House throughcommunity input.Sarah MoellEducation & Outreach ManagerMeghan E. Reed, DirectorAs we planned to grow our campus, we also launched outreach initiatives to reach a wideraudience and deepen the reach TCHS had in Trumbull County. This included startingthe Second Saturday Township Tour series as well as launching the Voices Oral HistoryProject, which are most highlighted in the following pages. As a nonprofit organization that relies on community support, TCHS thrived this yearthrough local donations, local feedback, and the drive of Trumbull County residents tounderstand the importance of history-based programs and historic preservation. Thankyou for your faith in us as your historical society plans for a future that is relevant, useful, and inspiring for future generations.Mia OwensAmeriCorps HistoryService Corps MemberJonathan CambourisInternDavid FordInternA HUGE thank you to our weeklycollections volunteers MargaretChiarella, Karen Dahmen,Ashley Grimwood, Cindee Mines, and Kathy Seemann
