Maricopa-Franklin Pierce University Associate-Baccalaureate ConcurrentEnrollment Program (CEP)The Maricopa-Franklin Pierce University Associate-Baccalaureate CEP Program is a program offered through participatingcommunity colleges in the Maricopa Community College District (MCCD) and Franklin Pierce. A limited number of participantsare selected from the pool of MaricopaNursing students who have met all Maricopa-Franklin Pierce Associate-Baccalaureate CEPeligibility requirements and have applied to the Maricopa-Franklin Pierce Associate-Baccalaureate CEP.All Maricopa-Franklin Pierce Associate-Baccalaureate CEP nursing courses will be taught at the MaricopaNursing programlocation, Franklin Pierce courses online. MaricopaNursing coursework may be offered in a hybrid format (a portion of classes inperson and a portion online.)About CEP?Prerequisite Information1. The CEP allows nursing students to obtain an Associatein Applied Studies (AAS) in Nursing at Maricopa whilecompleting coursework towards the Bachelor of Sciencein Nursing at Franklin Pierce.2. CEP students will be enrolled in Maricopa and FranklinPierce classes at the same time.3. This educational partnership is designed to assist inmeeting the Institute of Medicine 2010 Future ofNursing goal to increase the percentage of BSN RNs to80% in Arizona by 2020.4. Students who complete the first four blocks of theMaricopaNursing program and concurrent FranklinPierce courses will complete the BSN degree within ashorter time frame.5. BSN prepared nurses are highly valued by potentialemployers and many employers state ‘BSN preferred’ inposting available nursing positions on their websites.6. Maricopa-Franklin Pierce Associate-Baccalaureate graduateswill be prepared with the expected professional knowledgeand skills of the new graduate baccalaureate prepared nurse.7. Franklin Pierce’s general education requirements meetAGEC standards. Students must have a current application in theMaricopaNursing pool before they can be considered forthe program.All students must complete both MaricopaNursingand Franklin Pierce Department of Nursing programprerequisites as noted. Pending coursework for FranklinPierce University MAY be considered - not to exceed 7 credits.To ensure that prerequisites meet program requirementsstudents are encouraged to meet with both Maricopaand Franklin Pierce advisors.Review of the CEP information is required beforemeeting with an advisor and application to the MaricopaFranklin Pierce Associate-Baccalaureate CEP.Final determinations of transfer credits will be made byboth Maricopa and Franklin Pierce admissions personnel.Health and Safety RequirementsMaricopaNursing has Health and Safety Requirements that must be met prior to enrolling and participating in any clinicalexperience. Healthcare agencies throughout the state of Arizona require vaccinations, titers, and other healthcare relatedrequirements (examples include background checks, CPR, drug and nicotine testing, etc.) These requirements are subject tochange per healthcare agency contacts with the educational institution. Students must be compliant (with no exception) withagency requirements prior to and throughout the program.2

Do I have to review the Associate-Baccalaureate CEPinformation prior to applying?Yes - all students who wish to apply to one of the CEPsmust review the CEP information prior to meeting withan advisor. The applications can be downloaded from theMaricopaNursing website nursing.maricopa.edu.Frequently Asked QuestionsWho can apply to the Maricopa-Franklin Pierce AssociateBaccalaureate Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP)?All students who have completed the eligibility requirementsare encouraged to apply.How do I apply to the Maricopa-Franklin Pierce AssociateBaccalaureate CEP?You will submit your completed application at the MaricopaCollege of first choice. The nursing advisor will review yourapplication and, if complete, will send to the Universityadvisor for review. Once your application has been reviewed,you will be notified of acceptance or declination.Where does the program take place?The Maricopa-Franklin Pierce Associate-Baccalaureate CEPwill be offered at the following MaricopaNursing programsites: Estrella Mountain Community College, GatewayCommunity College, and Scottsdale Community College.Additional locations of MaricopaNursing may offer theprogram in future semesters. All Franklin Pierce courses aretaught 100% online. All MaricopaNursing courses will beoffered at the Maricopa campus site.What should I include with my application when I meetwith the nursing advisor?Bring your completed CEP application, HESI A2 scores,and copies of unofficial transcripts from all educationalinstitutions attended.Is there a waiting list for the Maricopa-Franklin PierceAssociate-Baccalaureate CEP?There is no waiting list for the Maricopa-Franklin PierceAssociate-Baccalaureate CEP. If you are not accepted intothe program for the semester to which you applied, you mustreapply for the semester for which you wish to be consideredfor enrollment.What do you look for in a potential candidate that isapplying for the Maricopa-Franklin Pierce AssociateBaccalaureate CEP?Student selection will be based on GPA and HESI A2 orNET scores. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required.4

If I am not selected for the Maricopa-Franklin PierceAssociate-Baccalaureate CEP, can I reapply?As long as you meet the current CEP requirements, you areeligible to reapply.Do I need to be admitted to the MaricopaNursing pooland to Franklin Pierce?To be eligible to apply for the Maricopa-FranklinPierce Associate-Baccalaureate CEP, you must be in theMaricopaNursing applicant pool. Following your applicationfor the CEP, you will apply to Franklin Pierce. Officialtranscripts from all educational institutions attended mustthen be submitted to both the MaricopaNursing collegelocation you will attend and to Franklin Pierce.If I will not be finished with all of my prerequisite andco-requisite (Maricopa) courses the semester before I planto start the program, can I still apply for the MaricopaFranklin Pierce Associate-Baccalaureate CEP?To be eligible to submit an application a student must havecompleted ALL MaricopaNursing pre/co-requisites, but astudent may be pending up to seven credits of pre-requisitesfor Franklin Pierce.How much does the Maricopa-Franklin Pierce AssociateBaccalaureate CEP cost?Tuition costs* for the 35 credits of MaricopaNursing AAScourses approximately 3,000. Applicants selected for placement will be notified ofapplication status and accept/refuse placement.9. Apply to Franklin Pierce and enroll in the first two courses.10. Complete Franklin Pierce courses during current orupcoming semester. After completion, begin MaricopaFranklin Pierce Associate-Baccalaureate CEP.11. Graduate with AAS in Nursing from Maricopa and takeNCLEX-RN licensure exam.12. Graduate with BS in Nursing from Franklin Pierce.8
