Enhanced Work ListsThe work list toolbar now includes item counts automaticallydisplayed to the user. Karisma ensures these numbers arekept up to date at minimal cost to system performance.Work can be found at a glance and accessed directly fromthe toolbar. Coloured icons indicate the total item counts anddraw attention to overloaded work lists.In this release, the Work Lists boast significant performanceimprovements making them faster and more capable ofprocessing much larger lists.WORKS C OLIS TP E SWork List Scopes allow youto define, edit and deletepartitions on the system.Partitions encourage users towork from smaller lists andtarget important work.Scopes determine what isdisplayed to each user andset a threshold for a worklist count.Whenthethresholdisexceeded, the work list isdisplayed in red; giving theuser an instant notificationthat their work list isoverloaded.The new Partitioning capabilityallowsforcustomisablebreakdown of a work list;for example by Modality.

Order EntryThe Order Entrymodulereceivesorders from thirdparty applicationsin the form of HL7messages. It willreceive, schedule,attach and vieworders, as well asfetch data fromthehostanddistributeprintedcopies of orders.Order messages are validated in an instantand passed to Karisma to be processed asacceptable requests or denied based on therules you have in place.Everything is communicated back to thepartner system, allowing an in-depth,accurate audit trail to be kept on everyaction.Karisma’s order entry functionality givesyou a fast, simple solution to receivingorders which can be used in exactly thesame manner as paper requests – excepteverything is captured electronically; givingyour organisation a complete ordersolution.

Performance information, usage statistics andfault reports are stored in a database.HQ IntegrationFor Karisma v3, Kestral has developed HQ, a system to provideautomated feedback from the application server, sent using webservices over secure connection. Performance information, usagestatistics and fault reports are stored in a database back at Kestralto help quickly identify and address any issues on your system.Whenever an event occurs needing action or attention, Kestral willreceive notification. The Support team will be mobilised as soonas possible to deal with the issue. These event notifications willbe stored and audited to give us, and you, the whole picture onperformance.What all this means to you is your Kestral support team will alwayshave the latest information about your system and be alerted aboutany potential issues such as low disk space.

InventoryThe Karisma Inventory module allows youto define consumable inventory itemsincluding syringes, contrast and catheterson your system and track their stocklevel, usage and expiry.This allows you to track stock levels acrosslocations, bill for all consumable items ona service, transfer item quantities anddefine default item sets for services.In the normal courseservices, users declare thesupply inventory items. Inquantities at every locationdate.of performinglocation used tothis way, itemare kept up toIf the department needs an item withinsufficient supply, a transfer betweenlocations can be performed and Karisma willtake care of updating the quantities.Tracking inventory usage across multiplelocations throughout your organisation helpsminimise waste, create and apply budgets,pinpoint reorder levels, quantify the revenueraised from each item for which you chargeand ensure the best possible use of everyitem type.By keeping a close eye on your stock, youcan significantly reduce the liabilities and losscreated by overstock and spoilage.

Silo can be configured to use lower coststorage. By separating out your main data, your backup solutioncan be greatly simplified.Using Silo will prevent duplication of images in Karisma, reduceupgrade and backup times and provide a dedicated image storefor the RIS. You can also configure Silo to duplicate your images tosecondary media if required.Your Karisma database can be compacted with a fast and simpleprocess and then ‘shrunk’ when compaction is complete – makingfor significant speed enhancement overall.

AttachmentsKarisma v3 allows any file to be attachedto requests on the system. Examples ofuseful attachments might include a PDFfrom an ECG or a photo taken during theexamination. If it is a Windows file, itcan be attached to the request.Attachments can be managed withinKarisma from a single screen. Informationon each attachment and an icon is usedto identify and manage attachments whichcan be opened with a double click.

.designed according to the user’s needs and a unique icon canbe assigned to each data form for easy identification.Data FormsKarisma v3 provides the tools for users to create customised data forms.These are a special type of attachment.Data forms are word processor documents for form-based data entry.Data forms make entering information on an exam simple, by providingdesignated data entry areas for important data.Forms can be designed according to the user’s needs and a unique iconcan be assigned to each data form for easy identification.Using predefined fields makes workflow more efficient and, with theoption of setting mandatory data formats for any field, an ideal way toassist the accuracy of data entry.Karisma makes creating highly customised data forms as simple as usinga word processor.

Karisma WebKarisma Web allows request referrers andfacilities to interact with Karisma on theweb. The web version of Karismaprovides authorised practitioners andreferrers access to results, reports andkey images where necessary and canstart the associated PACS with a URLwhen the PACS supports this.Practitioners only have access to reportswith which they have a valid association.They might be the referrer, responsiblepractitioner or a ‘copy to’ on the request.They might work in the same practice asthe referrer or a copy to doctor. Yourpatients can be assured of a level ofprivacy which many would expect as apart of the service you provide.

Karisma MobileKestral has developed an iOS applicationfor both iPhones and iPads whichfacilitates viewing and authorising clinicalWorkflow Efficiencyreports – Karisma Mobile.Configured to work with your Karismasystem, a work list of reports will bedisplayed and selecting a report will renderit formatted for your mobile device.You will be alerted to any reports whichneed to be authorised by means ofnotifications and the application badge.Push notifications mean you won’t needto leave the application open to beinformed of any new reports awaitingauthorisation.Alerts will display at the top of thescreen to indicate that new reports existwithout interrupting any other applicationsbeing used. A number badge on theapplication icon will display the numberof read reports.With successful radiology clinics attractingincreasing numbers of examinations peryear, authorisation backlogs can easilyoccur.Now, with the convenience of a mobileapplication, you can address any workoutstanding no matter where you are whether you’re on an iPhone or aniPad.

User InterfaceThe user interface for v3 has been updated to give the task pad a morecompact feel and improve the efficiency and overall performance of thedisplay during navigation. Automatic filters keep workflow moving smoothlyand good use of colour has been made to help identify certain events,including overloaded work lists and high priority services.All colour elements are customisable to suit the needs of yourorganisation – from colour-coded appointments in the scheduling diaryto threshold values for work lists.
