President’s MessageGreetings,Welcome back from the summer months. The Grand Rapids Board of Directors (BOD)is looking forward to having an exciting program year. We are lucky to have everyonefrom the BOD coming back again this year, with the addition of one new board member. We have multiple tours and development meetings planned along with numerouseducation classes. We are involved in bringing back the annual West Michigan SupplyChain Management Conference. We are thrilled to be working with such wonderfulprofessionals and members of the APICS family. Not too long ago I was talking with my uncle. He is now retired, but he worked atAmway in the IT department and before that he worked in quality. He said that he wasan APICS member because it helped him to understand the needs of his customers. Ihave always known that APICS can help educate people throughout an organization, butthis confirmed the fact that supply chains affect all aspects of the company. Materialsmanagement and procurement have needs that other departments do not realize orunderstand (and vice versa). If our APICS education can provide just a little bit of insightto others on what our needs might be, the entire organization will become more efficient. The board of directors has worked hard this past year to put a strategic plan togetherwhich will enable our Chapter to continue to enhance and grow our organization. Wewould like to gain entry into different industries and professions to share the APICSBody of Knowledge, but also to give our current members increased professionalnetworking opportunities. We are asking for your feedback and help in reaching out toyour colleagues and co-workers to spread the word about the priceless opportunitiesthat APICS Association and Grand Rapids has to offer. We are also looking for ways to innovate and refresh, especially if it is technologyrelated. If you have any ideas that might add an interesting element to our educationclasses or PDM’s, please let us know.I am looking forward to working with you this year.Danielle Campbell, CPIM2013 – 2014 APICS Grand Rapids Chapter Presidentwww.apics-gr.org1
