FATHER MATT’S CORNER – Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary TimeDear Friends in Christ,Our Lord gives great advice for living out life no matter what position wehave in life. We should be humble we should not try to be bragging or postingor self promoting. The parable about the wedding Guest is a great lesson manytimes I have learned it. When invited to a formal occasion I consider myselflucky to be there as a guest of someone but I don't presume to be seated atthe head table I would rather talk with the people that I know in the back andnot have honors or attention drawn to me. If they want me to be closer theywill invite me just like what Jesus said in the gospel. No, just do your jobsquietly God will see and he will reward each one accordingly. God is far betterand far more knowledgeable than any accounting or payroll system that thisworld could offer. Go about your business be humble when you do it andalways treat others with kindness and in the end God will treat you with kindnessSincerely yours in Christ,Fr. MattLECTOR WORKSHOPA new lector workshop will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. in the church. In order to become familiar with the audio system, please prepare a reading to practice with at theambo. Questions, contact d55weimer@gmail.com.DAN’S CORNER-All About Us We are born with two eyes in front because we must not look behind, but see what lies ahead beyondourselves. We are born to have two ears, one left and one right, so we can hear both sides, collect boththe compliments and criticisms, to see which are right. We are born with a brain concealed in a skull, and then no matter how poor we are, we are still rich, for no one can steal what our brain contains. Weare born with two eyes, two ears, but one mouth is a sharp weapon. It can hurt, flirt and kill.Remember this motto: talk less, listen and see more. We are born with only one heart, deep in our ribs,it reminds us to appreciate and give love from deep within. Our Catholic Appeal Update:Our Parish goal for Our Catholic Appeal For 2022 is 169,739. Funeral Notification and PlanningThe death of a loved one is always painful, yet requires timely decisions for scheduling funeral rites. Contacting thefuneral home/cremation provider of your choice is the first response following the death of a loved one. TheFuneral Director of the funeral home or family member (for those who choose to use a direct cremation service/society) should then contact, Dan Weimer, the Funeral Coordinator at Our Lady of Hope at (386) 299-4490 oremail: d55weimer@gmail.com. Dan will assist with scheduling a Mass or Service, and arrange an appointmentwith the family to plan the Funeral Mass/Service. Funeral Masses may be scheduled with the decedent in a casketor with cremated remains once the remains are available. Funeral Masses are scheduled and celebrated at Our Lady ofHope at the 8:30 a.m. Mass Tuesday through Friday. Memorial Masses are not permitted in the Diocese of Orlando (thismeans the absence of a body or cremains). A date for a Funeral Mass/Service cannot be scheduled without the funeralhome or family member contacting Dan. This policy is in place to avoid scheduling conflicts and assure the availabilityof the church and a priest. There are brochures available in the church vestibule and parish office which speak aboutthe Church’s teachings on Catholic Funerals and Cremation.Bereavement Ministry (Comfort and Care)SEASONS OF HOPE - A six week program, rooted in Catholic tradition, conveys God’s consolationthrough scripture, prayer, reflection and sharing our faith. Edward O’Shea,8/21/1977; Rev John Denehy 8/22/2003; Rev. Edward W. Hughes, 8/23/1992; Rev. Bronis Benesevich, 8/26/1993;Rev. Michael J. Hannon, 8/28/2013SPIRITUAL SHAPE UPFor the year of 2022, in this column, we will take a journey through scripture. Each week, wewill take a passage from a different book of the Bible and we will make our way through thewhole Bible this year. I hope you will find this to be a fun and spiritually fulfilling process.BIBLE WEEK 30: THE BOOK OF JEREMIAHThis week, we explore the 30th book of the Bible, The Book of Jeremiah. Like the previous book, the Book ofJeremiah is one of the great prophetic books of the Old Testament. The prophet Jeremiah was born in 650 BCand began his prophetic career in 628 BC. He predicted the take over by the Babylonians when Jerusalem wasdestroyed in 587 BC. During this time, Jeremiah also predicted the restoration of Jerusalem. Jeremiah 31:31—34 is known as the Gospel before the Gospel. It is a prophetic vision of how God will come to all people throughJesus. Read 31: 31—37. How does Jesus fulfill this prophecy?WANT TO GO DEEPERRead Chapter 3. What does this say about our Israel’s relationship to God? How does it relate to yourrelationship with God? This is a typical pattern in the Old Testament when Israel is right with God, things aregood for them. When they look to other gods or are unfaithful to God, they are taken over by foreigners. Thenthey repent, God forgives them and Jerusalem is restored. How is this pattern similar to our own lives? Howdoes the Sacrament of Reconciliation fit into this pattern? Reflect on how your life is better when you are rightwith God.A six session seriesfor Catholic MenInto theBreachBeginningSeptember 14th6:30pmIn the Fr. George RoomOf the Parish Office5
