Like John, we are called to testifyto that same Light. We do so by living lives offaith and bringing the joy of the Gospel toeveryone we meet. We are people of joy whorejoice at his birth and eagerly await his comingagain. We share that joy by tending to the needsof the poor, helping those who are broken, andwitnessing to the freedom that a life in Godbrings. May we take our task of being joyfulwitnesses to the good news seriously as thecelebration of Christ's birth fast approaches.Advent ChallengeSometime today, find an extra 15 minutes ofquiet time to just rest in God’s presence. This Week’s Mass LSAOLLOLLOLLOLLSAMonday, December 187:00 am † Daniel Couch8:15 am † Joe & Cecilia ReisdorffTuesday, December 197:00 am † Pluhacek Family8:15 am † Eileen KinselWednesday, December 207:00 am † Ed Rider, Sr.8:15 am † Intercessors of the Lamb MembersThursday, December 217:00 am † Members of St. Adalbert8:15 am † Barbara MurphyFriday, December 227:00 am † Pluhacek Family8:15 amBen MowitzSaturday, December 238:00 amNellie MascarellaVigil Masses for 4th Sunday Advent5:00 pmMary Jandrain5:30 pm † Bill TokoshSunday, December 248:30 amJetta Genovesi-Skinner9:30 am † Frank & Mary Johanek10:30 am † Ellen BlackVigil Masses for Christmas Eve Masses4:00 pmFor Our Parishioners4:30 pm † Patricia Kelly7:00 pmPietramale Family12 Midnight Richard & Barbara JandrainChristmas Day Masses8:30 am, 10:30 am & 5:00 pm9:30 amWeekend of Dec 10, 2017Weekly NeedSunday EnvelopesACHWe ShareUnder Budget 9,000.00 6,680.21 .00 970.00 1,349.79Your weekly stewardship isvital for our parish budget!Extra Monthly EnvelopesOur Fiscal YearJuly 1, 2017 - June 30, 2018Week 24 of 52 WeeksThis reflects our weekly parishioners Sunday envelope donations.Total Budgeted 216,000.00Total Stewardship 208,202.93Under Budget 7,797.07Energy Envelope 478.00School Endowment Fund 62.00We are trying to keep up with ourParish Endowment Fund 485.00Improvement Fund 1,093.00 monthly bills. Our Lady of Lourdes — St. Adalbert Parish4EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIPAs Christians, we are called to a life of prayer. This is not justduring seasons like Advent, but all year long. When we talkabout being prayerful everyday stewards, we are speakingabout cultivating an awareness of God being with us at alltimes. Each day we begin by offering God the entirety of ourday. Each night we rest in him and hope that the hours thatpassed gave him glory.During this busy time of Advent, it is hard to cultivate this lifeof prayer, but without it we can too easily lose sight of the reason for the season. It is during this time of year we need toheed the words of St Paul more than ever when he wrote tothe Thessalonians, "Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing." Thisis how we will be able to avoid the pitfalls of consumerism andsecularism and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.Bring Jesus with you into the office Christmas party. Take himwith you shopping for gifts in the department store. Be awareof him when you sit down to watch television specials you haveseen every year of your life. Give him all your time and let hispresence fill your every moment. By striving to be connectingwith Jesus at all times, you will bear greater fruit and the joyyou experience will be much greater than you could imagine. You might even spend fewer dollars and spend more time withthose you love, particularly the One who loves you the most, the Incarnation himself.-Tracy Earl Welliver, MTSTHIS WEEK’S CALENDAR OF EVENTSSunday, December 17, 2017 3rd Sunday of Advent9:00 amCCD Classes in the OLL SchoolCoffee & Donuts after 8:30 & 10:30 am Masses SBH5:45 pmKnights of Columbus Christmas Party SBHMonday, December 18, 20171:30 pmPenance Service OLLC7:00 pmPenance Service OLLCTuesday, Dec. 19, 20177:25 amMother of Perpetual Help Devotions, STA8:45 amMother of Perpetual Help Devotions, OLLC9:00 amPrayer for Priests, OLLC ChapelWednesday, December 20, 20177:00 pmRCIA, OLLSBHThursday, December 21, 2017Friday, December 22, 2017Saturday, December 23, 20179:30 pmAA Meeting, OLLSBHSunday, December 24, 2017 4th Sunday of AdventNo CCD Classes TodayNo Coffee & Donuts Today due to Christmas11:30 pmCATHOLIC Q & AOn many Sundays, especially during Advent and Lent, wehear a reading from one of the prophets. What is significant about them for us? Didn't Jesus fulfill all their predictions?Advent and Lent are the times of the church year when the prophetic word forms an important part of the liturgical season.Isaiah, Jeremiah, Baruch, and Zephaniah are just some of theprophets who offer powerful and essential lessons for Christiansof any era. Prophets do not predict the future--they are verymuch concerned about the present, calling Israel to follow onceagain the word of God.The prophets witness to a life of faith. In the midst of an intenserelationship with God, the prophets are very aware of theirunworthiness to embrace this call from God, and struggle toaccept the mission God entrusts to them. The prophets speak on behalf of God. Each testifies that the wordspoken is not from them, but from God. While tempted at timesto throw in the towel, the prophets remained true to the life offaith and persevered in the proclamation of God's word.“The Story of Christmas” with narration andsinging will be presented by the choirpreceding Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve.OLLCOLLSBH — Saint Bernadette Hall PC — Parish Center (Gym)OLLC — OLL Church S — OLL School SC — SchoolCafeteriaPray for our Service Men & WomenPlease pray for all service men and women, especiallyfor those family members of our parishioners: JuliusAquino, Joe Becerra, Tom Byrne, Paul Cherek, ElizabethGill, Paris Fulbright, Brian T. 7Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School News.OLL Winter Blanket and Soup Drive a Great Success! It has been wonderful to see all the giving that has been going on in our schooland parish community this Advent. The students, along with their parents andthe parishioners, have joyfully brought in many warm blankets and cans of soupfor our Advent school drive. It has been inspiring to observe our students andparishioners demonstrating Christ love here on earth! So on behalf of the students, teachers and myself, thank you for helping ourblanket and soup drive be a success. We surpassed the goal of 200 blankets, which means hundreds of people at the Sienna Francis House will be aided byyour kind hearts to keep them safe and warm during the winter months. We also collected an assortment of soup cans tohelp those experiencing hunger this season. Thank you again for your generosity.Wishing you all a prayerful and holy Third Week of Advent as you preparefor Christmas!Megan Fiedler, Principal
