OBJECTIVE 1:Secure the Futureof All Trinity AthleticsAcross 30 varsity teams, our student-athletes yearafter year compete at the highest levels of Division IIIsports. Guided by exceptional coaches, drawn to anexperience that blends stellar academics with rigorousphysical demands, and encouraged by devoted familyand fans, these student-athletes have established amodel of all-around excellence. With this initiative,donors have the opportunity to ensure the futureof Trinity Athletics through the establishment of anendowment and an annual fund that are as strong asthe programs they will support.Establish an Athletics EndowmentNothing guarantees an enterprise’s strength andopportunities like an endowment—it is the enduringfinancial core upon which the best programs grow, adapt,and plan for continued success. Until now, though,Trinity Athletics and our coaches have been compelledto operate differently: fundraising regularly to securethe funds required to thrive—to win—in the highlycompetitive NESCAC.With this initiative, we aim to raise at least 25 millionin endowed funds to ensure the future of all our programsand allow our coaches to focus on the reason they are here:to recruit, mentor, and inspire the finest combinations ofstudent and athlete in the nation.Through gifts to the athletics endowment, donors will: Guarantee that every endowed sport will be part ofTrinity’s future. Enhance every team’s success recruiting outstandingstudent-athletes from around the globe. Strengthen the skills that teams bring to the intensecompetition of the NESCAC. Retain, invest in, and celebrate Trinity’s world-class coachesthrough the creation of endowed coaching positions.GOAL: 30 Million Fund other critical elements of eachsport through team-specific endowmentsthat support trainers, subsidize travel costs,invest in equipment, and more. Make possible a permanent source of fundingfor all Bantam Sports and ensure that the TrinityAthletics that make the college community proudcontinue to excel.Bolster the Annual Fund for AthleticsThrough the annual fund, donors can turn their supportfor athletics into stronger programs. Over the course ofthis initiative, we aim to raise 1 million current-usedollars annually. These gifts will support team-specificFriends Groups and contribute to all aspects of eachteam’s needs, from equipment to training.In contributing to the annual fund, donors of everylevel also become part of a lasting culture of athleticsphilanthropy that includes alumni of all ages. Thesegifts will help sustain Trinity Athletics for years tocome. More than that, with annual fund gifts, donorsprovide immediate funding as we work toward ourendowment goal and, ultimately, establish permanentlong-term support for the athletics program.

OBJECTIVE 2:Define the Future ofSquash, Wellness, andthe Ferris Athletics CenterTrinity’s men’s squash team—under the guidance ofrenowned coach Paul Assaiante—has won 17 CollegiateSquash Association National Championships. Trinity’swomen’s squash team completed their 12th straightTop-4 finish in the Howe Cup, the CSA A Division TeamNational Championships for Women’s Teams.These incomparable results are part of a campuscommunity where health, wellness, and a spirit ofcompetition are integral to who we are and the liveswe help shape every day. The Trinity communityembraces the reality that physical, mental, andintellectual health are together part of a lifetime ofwell-being. With dramatic new improvements toFerris Athletics Center, we can create a setting worthyof our students’ highest aspirations for competition,physical challenge, and healthy living.Build New England’s Finest Squash CenterStep one towards this transformation is building aworld-class squash facility that connects seamlesslyto the existing Ferris Athletic Center. With donorsupport, we can build a new, sustainably designed35,000-square-foot squash center that features: Sixteen permanent squash courts—including two feature courts—wherefans can gather to watch some ofthe most exciting collegiate squashcompetition anywhere. A space to support a portable, state-of-the-art glass court for major squashevents, creating an exciting venue forstudents, alumni, and other fans tocheer on the nation’s best.TRINITY COLLEGEGOAL: 30 MillionBut this squash center will also do something uniquelyTrinity: We enjoy a special partnership with CapitolSquash—a non-profit urban squash program basedat the college. Through this partnership, Trinityhelps to provide Hartford youth with life-changingopportunities for education, leadership, and growththat are developed around the sport of squash. Thenew facility will provide teaching and mentoringspaces that will grow and strengthen this highlyimpactful program and help make it a national model.This facility, in fact, will be the premier squash center inNew England for collegiate championships, professionaltournaments, and other events—a stature befittingAmerica’s exemplary collegiate squash program.

Transform the Athletics Center into aComprehensive Athletics and Wellness CenterMoving the squash program to a new structure will alsomake a long-awaited development possible: dramaticrenovations to the Ferris Athletics Center that standbehind Trinity’s commitment to health and wellness.These changes are imperative at a college wherenearly every student, and many faculty and staff, usethe campus fitness and wellness facility regularly.This center has become a vital component of students’campus lives and of the lasting commitment to healthand wellness they aspire to establish.With donor gifts, we will repurpose nearly 15,000 squarefeet of space and, among other improvements: Create a dramatic new entrance that welcomes theTrinity community—including student recruits ofevery interest. This entrance will become a pointof community pride, as it will also lead to a newAthletics Hall of Fame and celebrate Trinity’s historyof national and NESCAC champions. Modernize and expand existing fitness spaces andincrease Trinity’s fitness classes to give studentsmore opportunities and better resources to workout, test their abilities, and enjoy the benefits oftaking care of themselves. Establish a new student health center thatprovides every Trinity student with high-qualityphysical- and mental-health care through Trinity’scollaboration with Hartford Health Care. Integrate the new student health center into a new,adjacent sports medicine and rehabilitation facilityfor all Trinity Varsity athletes. Create needed professional offices and conferencerooms, so that our varsity coaches and teams haveappropriate spaces in which to meet, discuss gameplans, review film, and help recruit tomorrow’sBantam athletes. Build classrooms and multi-purpose spaces thateveryone on campus can use and that will meet theneeds of the numerous athletics functions that helpmake campus life so vibrant.

OBJECTIVE 3:Build the Future of TrinityFootball, Field Hockey,Lacrosse, and Track & FieldThis ambitious fundraising initiative will create someof the finest facilities in the NESCAC for sports thathave long been among Trinity’s most competitive:football, men’s and women’s lacrosse, field hockey,and track & field.Through extensive renovations, we intend to addressa longstanding priority for the Jessee/Miller andSheppard Fields: a modern stadium complex and pressbox that will enhance the game-day experience ofathletes, fans, and media alike.Donor gifts are key to making possible the excitingfeatures of the new stadium, including: New spectator stands for Trinity and visitingfans that offer comfortable, accessible,angled, and ample seating to enjoy gameswith clear lines of sight from any seat.TRINITY COLLEGEGOAL: 5 Million A beautiful glass press box that offers amodern, professional setting for media whocover these sporting events and an optimalspace for coaches to conduct their best work. First-rate warming rooms for Trinity athletesand visiting teams to increase their capacityto play winter games and reduce the risksassociated with extreme cold. Ample new green space in place of the oldvisitor stands. And, not to be forgotten, modern andaccessible restroom facilities.Through gifts to the stadium complex, donors willprovide some of our strongest and best-coached teamsfirst-rate venues that approximate the intensity of theircollective commitment to excellence in Trinity’s name.
