As the wood absorbs moisture,the bottom expands more than the finishprotected top, causing cupping.When this cupping appears during the dryingprocess, it may cause some concern for theproperty owner. Be patient. The cupping willgo away. If your drying system is properlyset up, regular monitoring will show that themoisture content (MC) is trending downward.Continue drying until the MC reaches the dryinggoal (or dry standard) and the cupping is gone.Now clean the floor, and for an added touch,apply a coat of polyurethane. In most cases, youwon’t even need to do a prep sanding.REMEMBER: Hardwood flooring can be restored whenexposed to Category 1 water. The longer the floor is wet, the longerit will take to dry. Be patient!
