Burnett County4-H NewsFAIR FACTS 2013 Fair Exhibitor Books are available at the County Extension Office. Fair ENTRY FORMS, found on page 3 of the Fair Book must be submittedby July 17 for the Webster Fair and August 8 for the Grantsburg Fair. Rules and Regulations for both Burnett County Fairs start on page 2 of theFair Book. Judging takes place on August 2 for the Webster Fair. Exhibits may be entered July 31 or August 1 (see Fair Book for times. Exhibits must remain inplace until August 4. Judging takes place on August 23-24 for the Grantsburg Fair. Exhibits mustbe entered August 22 and remain in place until 4pm on August 25. Exhibitors will submit entry information, entry fees, and dorm fees directly tothe state fair (and NOT to UW-Extension).Two deadlines exist:June 5th - postmark for those wishing toenter by paper entry and with acheck/money orderJune 19th - for those wishing to enteronline and pay with a credit/debit card. Managerial forms will be due with entry. Forthose planning on showing a managerial animal, forms are available online or more information regarding the WisconsinState Fair, please k/ orcontact the State Fair Entry Office at entryoffice@wisconsin.gov or call 414-266-7000.CAMP VOLUNTEERS AND CHAPERONES NEEDEDThe following ADULT positions are needed at 4-H Camp July 23-26, 2013 at Lake 26!(1) Nurse/First Aid Person: Responsible forhealth and safety concerns of all people atcamp. This person is in charge of medicationsand administering basic first aid to those attending camp. This person is required stay overnight in case of emergencies. Must be First-Aid/CPR certified, nurse preferred.(1) Lifeguard: To oversee safety of campersduring waterfront time. Responsible for supervising youth in the water during free swim, andadvising campers and staff of safety proceduresat the beach and during water carnival times.(1-3) Cook: Planning and providing meals (andsnacks) to all those attending camp. Meals include breakfast, lunch and dinner on Wednesday and Thursday and a final breakfast andlunch on Friday. Meals will serve approximately25-50 youth and adults. Responsibility may beshared or split between adults.(2-3) Chaperones: To assist in general supervision and ensure that camp runs smoothly.This adult it required to stay overnight (in orderto assure the 10 to 1 youth to adult ratio atcamp). Burnett County27th Anniversary Pullet SurpriseYouth ContestIn an attempt to promote the breeding and exhibition of purebredpoultry among Wisconsin’s youth, the Wisconsin InternationalPoultry Club invites interested youth to apply for the Pullet Surprise. The lucky winners in each of two categories will receive apair of show quality purebred fowl, complete with an incubator,caging, feed, a copy of the 2011 edition of The American Standard of Perfection, a one-year membership in the WIPC and apoultry carrier. All awards will be presented at the 2013 Wisconsin International Poultry Club Show. Birds will be provided by themembers of the Wisconsin International Poultry Club.Contest Rules1. The meeting concluded with an electricity demonstration by MasonGetts. Dani has been teaching colleagues how to use iPads and technology for4-H news and events.Old Business:County Trip ideas—Becky will get more information on Hayward sites of interest and reportback.Summer Intern—Dani brought an example ofthe job description—looking for a HS graduate,at the minimum, prefer college student. Application deadline is May 24th. Job will be postedon the job center site and at the libraries. Internwould be paid by the county. Motion by Phil todonate 1,000 for summer intern. Second byDave. Intern program received a Polk-Burnettgrant for 650.00. Intern would work about 150 hours starting in June. Dani will handleinterviews, tentatively scheduled for May 31stduring the day. Fair ENTRY FORMS, found on page 3 of the Fair Book must be submitted by July 17 for the Webster Fair and August 8 for the Grantsburg Fair. Rules and Regulations for both Burnett County Fairs start on page 2 of the Fair Book. Judging takes place on August 2 for the Webster Fair.
