Page 4Page 19News from the Board .Please make sure you read the article page 9 regarding the Deed Restriction votes. If youhave any questions on this topic, don’t hesitate to come in and talk to us. We will be meetingwith the Committee for this project to discuss whether we want to make another attempt in thefuture to revise the deed restrictions. We’ve talked to the roofing company and were told our roof project should start in 4-5 weeks. We are currently getting bids on a cleaning company to clean our clubhouse. Thanks to LindaSaunders for doing this job until she goes back up north.Dave Peragallo has graciously offered to revitalize a Welcoming Committee to serve the newcomers in our community. Dave will be organizing this group during the summer months sowe’re ready to go by the fall.Because of a rash of vandalism in the pool area, we have installed a security camera in thatarea. We hope this will keep us aware of what’s going on at the pool and keep our pool andthose using the pool safe. We know it’s not easy, but we all need to enforce the rules at thepool for our own safety. We are also replacing the closing mechanism on the pool gates so ourgates will close properly all the time. The company that’s services our new printer came and gave us all a training session so wecan better use all the ‘perks’ that the new machine offers. We continue to keep our community looking pristine by mowing 4 lots that are not being keptup and by trimming the palm trees in our common areas.Thank you to Roberta Moss for volunteering to be our Activities Director once again. Let’s allsupport Roberta .think about volunteering to help out.We wish our snowbirds a safe trip home and we’ll see them in the fall. Also,,,,please remember those who provided us with a life of freedom on Memorial Day!CherylPalm Bay Colony Home Owners Association Board of DirectorsPresident ,,,,,, ., Cheryl /KisielTreasurer . .Janie LevesqueVice President .Dave LawlessSecretary . Page 14Page 9DEED RESTRICTION VOTE RESULTSThe number of ballots cast on April 6 was enough to count the results and the results were posted on the bulletin boards inside andoutside of the building. The vote to add to, delete from and change some of the current Deed Restrictions for PBC wasrecently completed. The process required that at least 50 percent plus 1 of the eligible votersvote yes to approve a change Since only a few more than 50 percent plus 1 of the eligible voters responded with timely ballots (286), there were not enough yes votes to change any of theproposals. That wasn’t an entirely negative result, however. Many of the proposed changes were simplyto remove outdated language. For example, one section in the current DRs states that all mobile homes have sanitary facilities. Of course, to get a certificate of occupancy today, we allhave sanitary facilities; however, that language will remain. Only 169 voters checked YES forthat amendment. An addition that was proposed was the requirement that hot tubs, pools, and bird baths be maintained to prevent stagnant water. Although 275 people voted yes forthat, it wasn’t enough votes to approve that addition. Another was the addition of wording requiring pet owners to pick up after their pets. Again, 259 yes votes wasn’t enough to add that! The process did, however, help us see some of the things that are important to residents. Tosimplify, concerning rentals, Option 1 to allow rentals received 150 yes votes; Option 2 to allowno rentals received 111 yes votes. The addition of a section to require that, when homes aresold in future, they must become HOA members, received 169 yes votes. More HOA memberswould, of course, make it easier to maintain our community; however, that addition, likewise, did not pass.Revisions to the Deed Restrictions will probably be attempted again in the future; we believethe expense and amount of work needed to reach every resident of PBC, HOA members andnon-members alike, is warranted to maintain the quality of our lives here. However, two very important things have to happen. EVERY HOME OWNER HAS TO PROVIDE A CURRENT, VALID MAILING ADDRESS. This is a particular problem with nonmembers and non-residents, people who own their properties but rent them out and don’t livehere. The home owner is the only person who can vote, not the renter. Some of those ballotswere returned to us, Undeliverable as Addressed, by the Post Office because the address wehave on file was no longer valid. We did our best to try to track them down, but there wasn’tenough time, and some just couldn’t be found.Again, we thank everyone who spent many hours on this project and we appreciate their effortsto update our deed restrictions.Thank you!

Page 10Happenings Fun Friday night was somewhat different in May. We did celebrate birthdays and anniversariesas usual. And, in addition we also had our annual Art Show. The entire dance floor was filledwith exhibits from each of the member/students pictures as well as those of our two great teachers, Dave Lawrence and Harlan Brooks. There were also two or three other artists from outsideour park displaying their art work as well. Everything was very professionally presented. In addition to the art work there was a table set up for anyone to sit down and participate in a free artclass with a one-on-one instruction from Dave. There was also refreshments to snack on plusthe birthday/anniversary cake.Several pieces of art work were sold which made us all very pleased. They tell me that onceyou sell a piece of your art work, you are officially considered a “Professional”. So, I guess wecan safely say that there are several “Professional Artists” living in our community. Good jobeveryone. Thanks to Dave and Harlan for hosting this exciting evening and to all who attended.Somehow the writing about Bingo night got removed from my computer. Bummer, now I’ll haveto write from memory and I am sure some of you know how tricky that can be. Six lucky peoplewon 50.00 each. Among those were Lucky Louise, Tom, Jack & Lois. Roberta’s granddaughtersplit the coverall with Diane and Jessie won the 50/50 drawing. At one point Mike asked all thesnowbirds heading north in the next couple of weeks to stand up and I swear about half thepeople in the room stood up. We are going to miss you guys. Thanks to Mike, Dave, Janice &Jessie for their efforts. We’ll miss Janice as well since she is going up north to be with family acouple of months. Sure hope she decides not to stay any longer. Thanks also to Rich and HelenDundon for passing out all that creamy ice cream. They will be heading north soon. I volunteered to take their place for the summer months I’ll need some help, so, if you would like tohelp out give me a call at 321-729-9076.The spring dance Sat. night was great. Joe, from the group Kore, provided the dance music forthe evening as well as entertaining us with his vocal talent. As an extra bonus, Jim, one of theband’s former members who lives on the other coast got up several times and accompaniedJoe with his harmonica. What a treat that was!! The dance was supposed to end at ten, butJoe said he still had some of his beer left and he wasn’t going to leave until it was gone. Thecrowd was delighted with that. Thank you Roberta and Tom for hosting another great night ofdancing fun.I thought I was on the cruise ship again because on Easter Sunday there was so much food .it was like being on board ship. There were separate tables for appetizers, salads, and desserts. Not to mention there were two long tables filled with ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn casserole, green beans, pasta dishes & baked beans etc. Everything wasdelicious and well presented .Roberta and her committee did a fabulous job. Patty began themeal with a beautiful song and prayer. It really touched my heart. And, that’s not all! .after dinner there were drawings for the door prize and other prizes awarded to anyone who found anEaster egg with a certain something inside. I couldn’t believe it when Roberta called my number for the door prize. It was a large Easter basket filled with Ghirardelli chocolates, wine, chocolate Easter Bunny, wrapped chocolate eggs and other chocolate candy. Since I am a confirmed “Chocoholic” there couldn’t have been a better prize to win. It was a wonderful dinnerand again, a big thank you to Roberta for hosting this event.I want to thank everyone for all the cards, calls and prayers for me during my little episode withA-fib. After a short glitch, I am back in action again. Thank you again.Delores DaviePage 13
