Now there are twodistinct categories of rack and tower servers:the HP essential series, ideal for everydaybusiness needs, and the performance series,ideal for more demanding applications. Thetable below summarizes the differences.One of the major changes you’ll notice with HPProLiant Gen8 Servers is that, in both the DLand ML families, the 100 series offerings aretransitioning into the 300 “e” series. The needsand requirements of traditional 100 seriescustomers will be met by the new 300 “e”series servers, packaged with a balanced setof essential features and HP innovations. You willalso notice that our original DL and ML 300 seriesproducts have now transitioned to the DL300“p” and ML300 “p” series servers respectively forleading performance and versatility.Now the numerical series is less aboutdistinguishing feature set differences and ismore about grouping platform levels.The basic series indicators are:“e” Essential: Balanced offering of ProLiantinnovation focused on value“p” Performance: Highest end, mostcomprehensive ProLiant innovation“c” c-Class: Blades architecture, flexible,modular infrastructure“s” Scalable system: Purpose-built for scaleenvironmentsWhether it’s a departmental server, anenterprise data center, or anything in between,HP can meet your exact business needs.
