Her key responsibilities include positioning TAFENSW to meet the State’s skill priorities and working with industry to ensure a highly skilled andproductive workforce. Pam has worked in education and training for over 30 years. She beganher career as a secondary school teacher, worked overseas as an Australian volunteer and forthe Adult English Migrant Service. Pam has held senior Government positions in the vocationaleducation and training sector, leading regulatory and funding reforms in NSW including majorreforms related to apprenticeships. He began hisprofessional career in 1984 as a high school teacher of German, Italian and Japanese before movingto TAFE in 1993. He taught languages and English as a Second Language at Meadowbank TAFECollege where he also worked as a Head Teacher. In 2005-6 he was recruited to a project whichinvolved travelling on ten occasions to Japan to promote TAFE NSW to international students andstudy tour groups. From 2007 to 2010 he held several business development and management roleswithin TAFE NSW. Russell was elected President of the TAFE NSW Managers Association in 2012.Lyle Mellors - AUSTAFE Past President / Senior VET AdvisorCurrently the AUSTAFE National Immediate Past President, Lyle has served on the nationalexecutive since 2006 and was President in 2011 and 2012. With almost 30 years of experience andskills within the Northern Territory's Vocational Education and Training sector, Lyle has been avaluable resource to the AUSTAFE organisation. Lyle commenced as a TAFE lecturer in 1985, andhas since filled a number of middle management positions including head of department, seniorlecturer, Advanced Skills lecturer, assistant head of division, Charles Darwin University (CDU) AliceSprings Campus Leader and Senior VET Adviser. Since his appointment in May 2010, he has developed a culture of innovation invocational education and training services and built strong partnerships with industry anduniversities to provide students with pathways to employment and higher education. Peterholds a Masters of Education (Adult Education), University of Technology, Sydney; Bachelor ofArts, University of New England; Diploma of Teaching (Technical), Sydney Teachers Collegeand TAFE NSW mechanical engineering qualifications.Stephen Conway – CEO, TasTAFEStephen joined TAFE in South Australia as an Engineering Lecturer and as part of his dutiesdeveloped National Curriculum learning resources. In addition he embarked on a Nationalrole to design a re-training package for refrigeration/air conditioning mechanics to assistthe industry’s transition to ozone friendly refrigerants. As an Educational Leader, Stephenwas awarded an International Research Fellowship from ANTA to explore the use ofemerging technology to increase the flexibility of Vocational Education and Trainingdelivery. Adrian Marron – CEO, Canberra Institute of TechnologyAdrian Marron is the CEO of the largest vocational education and training institution in theAustralian capital, with more than 24,0000 students annually providing programs andservices in a wide range of disciplines. Adrian has been in this post for four years and cameto it after senior roles in the South Australian and Victorian TAFE systems. He has anextensive background across the education sectors including a variety of roles in the UK andPNG prior to coming to Australia. Adrian has contributed to a number of policy debates atthe State and National level and has spoken at many conferences and events in Australiaand overseas. He is a Fellow of the Australian College of Educators, a board member ofTAFE Directors Australia and a fellow of the Australian Institute of Management .Michael Coppola – Director, TAFE Transition Taskforce, VictoriaMichael Coppola is the Director of the TAFE Transition Taskforce.
