2022 RAFFLE IDEASSeeking Ideas for the next raffle. We will be starting a new fund raiser soon and wouldlike some fresh ideas. One idea that has been kicked around is to sell only 1 ticket typefor multiple drawings up to maybe 5 prizes - A Pistol , Rifle, Shotgun, Ammo, Gift card, etc. What are your thoughts?Do you remember when?By Brad CheffeyOn May 13, 2010, an EF2 Tornado swept through Coweta, Oklahoma, directly impacting the East end of the Club. The Maintenance Barnand All-Weather Building were lost as well as the shooting pavilion metal canopies from the 100/200 yard ranges, 50 yard plinking rangeand the pistol bays. Debris was scattered for over half a mile. An insurance claim had to be filed and an eight-person committee wasformed to rebuild and upgrade the damaged structures. Although the rebuild could not have been completed without the substantial insurance claim, it was still a considerable expense for the club as upgrades were implemented. Club members volunteered to clean up thedebris, however, contractors were required for the new construction. The shooting pavilion canopies were rebuilt for the pistol and rifleranges, a larger Maintenance Barn was constructed and the All-Weather Building was rebuilt and expanded to include meeting rooms andstorage facilities. The committee process itself took significant time as well as the new construction. Not Using the Club Much Anymore? Not using the club anymore? Need some extra cash? Perhaps you would liketo sell or transfer your membership. Contact member services for information. The club maintains a waiting list of potential buyers. If you are interested inselling or transferring your membership email memberservices@ocrgc.com

Major Maintenance ProjectsThe Building Committee, with the support of the Board of Directors, continues to work on needed major maintenance projects.Extensive club-wide improvements on ditches and culvertswas in progress through most of August. Ditches are noticeably wider and, in some cases, deeper. Regardless they willcarry considerable more water than previously. Whereverpossible ditches are sloped to readily allow mowing. Whereculverts were replaced, they are larger diameter to carry morerunoff and often longer length to allow easier vehicle access.Work included improved drainage in Shotgun Sports area. When planting conditions allow, we will be seeding newlyfreshed out ditches. Please stay off the tender grass as itgrows. To conserve money, we’re going to allow natural environmental effects to clear much of the soil deposited on theroads. When it’s gone in a few weeks we’ll topcoat with gravel.Work also has been recently done to clean the club’s northsouth creek for better water runoff. Drainage on the southside of the Skeet Operations building has been improved tohelp keep water out of the building.Request for Bids for the Trap Building is deliberately movingalong slowly. We’re watching for building materials cost to rollback. Goal of the RFB for the Trap Building is to take it to a“pleasant sow’s ear” level, like the work done early this yearon the R/P Bldg. Work will include exterior paint, door replacements, new HVAC, windows upgrade, porches over mandoors, and new carpet. Not a new building, but a tolerablebetter one for member use.THINGS TO KNOWPlease Give Contractors Ample Space toWork and Do Not DisturbAs work begins on the roads, ditches andculverts, you may encounter heavy equipment where work is being done. Use caution around equipment and obey any signsor any tape barriers the contractor maypost. The safety of the contractor and ourmembers Is paramount. Remember “Safetyis Everybody’s Business”.Work on the ditches, culverts and roads willtake around 3 weeks with good weather.Start date to begin is anticipated to be thefirst week of August. Work is expected tooccur Monday-Friday’s. Depending onwhere the contractor is working, the gateaccess may change. Watch for signs. Thecontractor won’t leave an old culvert pulledand not replaced. Traffic may need to yieldto a dump truck being filled with ditch spoilsor laying down fresh gravel, also M-F.Building CommitteeJack OstendorfLarry Bahler, Brad Chaffey, Richard Morgan, Bob Williams,Jack Ostendorf (chair)DINNER MEETINGSDinner Meetings are 3rd Monday of each month, 7 PM at the MCH101st gate will be open at 6:30 PM.
